☕ The Hangover After the Party in White Beach, Puerto Galera | My Struggle & Survival Tips

  🎥 WATCH THE VLOG:
At around 10:23 AM, I stumbled into Cathy’s Bar and Restaurant by the beachfront, hoping a good meal could rescue me. I ordered a strong cup of coffee, a hot bowl of Chicken Tinola, and two cups of rice (plus a banana for good measure) — all for ₱330. The beach was eerily quiet, the waves louder than ever, and the atmosphere calm despite the storm. 🌧️

Back in my room, I tried to sleep off the misery… but by 11:30 AM, I gave up. So I slipped on my sandals and wandered along the shoreline. The beach, usually buzzing with tourists, was almost empty—just a few brave souls strolling like me. With no sun and light rain falling, the scene was oddly peaceful. My hangover might have lingered, but that walk? Totally therapeutic. 🌊

If you ever find yourself nursing a hangover in paradise, remember: warm soup, strong coffee, and a quiet walk by the sea can do wonders—even in a storm.

Traveling is all fun and adventure—until your health suddenly takes a hit! My third day in White Beach, Puerto Galera took an unexpected turn when I suffered an asthma attack due to the cold and humid weather. 😷💨

Luckily, I always carry my trusty nebulizer, which I quickly plugged into the hotel socket to regain my breath. It was a frightening moment, but after resting and taking precautions, I was ready to explore again!

Despite the health scare, I still managed to:

  • ✅ Visit Puerto Galera Bayan to withdraw money 💰
  • ✅ Enjoy a delicious Inasal na Manok breakfast 🍗
  • ✅ Stroll around town with my local friend, who works at the beach

This trip was full of unexpected challenges and beautiful experiences, proving that even with setbacks, you can still make the most out of every moment.

💙 My Puerto Galera adventure has finally come to an end, but this last night was one for the books! 🌴🏖️

We were all set for the famous White Beach night party, but Mother Nature had other plans—rain poured down just as the night was about to begin. 🌧️ Did it stop us? Of course not! Instead, we took the fun to a KTV bar by the beach, where we sang our hearts out, enjoyed drinks 🍻, and partied with foreigners and fellow tourists.

The night got even better when fire dancers put on an incredible performance right at the beach gutter to avoid the rain! 🔥💃 The mix of fire, waves, and music created such a surreal vibe—it’s a moment I won’t forget.

In the morning, I woke up to the soothing sound of waves 🌊 and had a peaceful breakfast by the shore 🍳☕—the perfect way to wrap up this unforgettable Puerto Galera trip!

🏖️Best Summer Place To Ultimate Wet & Wild Party - White Beach, Puerto Galera

“This will be my graduation rite” I said to myself.

In fact, I kept saying that statement to myself na tama na, I’m no longer young pa- para maging carefree and I need to step up na at maging mature.  Maybe, one of the action plans of growing up is not to get crazy sa Puerto Galera every holy week. Seemingly, partying at the beach of Puerto Galera is so young and wild; and for me grow - is to avoid it at all.

But last summer Holy Week 2018, my friends and I, planned to go there kasi nga first time nila.  Who am I to decline my friends who were very curious about the happenings of the said beach? Every time I narrated my story to them, I can see on their faces how the seed of curiosity drastically grew into a tree of eagerness to experience the same story that I’ve uttered.

“Nako friend, you have to try  PUERTO GALERA during Holy Week to complete your Gay Life”,  I jokingly said to M.A. Buendia and William Pombo, who are both Puerto GAY-lera virgins. (I was once a Puerto Galera Virgin .. READ MORE)

“Sige Friend, let us go no matter what fortuitous events might occur”, POMBO and MA.

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:
Truly,  I am happy to let my two friends experience what I’ve experienced when I first visited such a vibrant place.

“Balik tayo dito , ang saya and LGBT people here are respected by the locals” said Buendia.
“Oo nga,  parang walang paki ang mga straight at di ka nila babastosin” said Pombo.

I just smiled after hearing those comments from them because that was also my feedback during my “first time”. And until now, I kept visiting Puerto Galera during my random weekends whenever  I need to unwind alone. Madaming nagsasabi na overrated na ang White Beach, Puerto Galera pero I still patronize the place wherein as a gay guy, you felt home and respected.  Madaming nagsasabi na kaya bumabalik ang mga bakla due to easy access to hook ups but I should say – it is more than that. The feeling of being recognized and accepted are the reasons why gay guys keep visiting this place.

When Puerto Galera won’t show any homophobia – LGBTQIA will still go back to the place. A place where the rainbow flag is proudly displayed by the locals through their acceptance.

At Some Point In My Life, I Am Dreaming Of Becoming A Fire Dancer.

The first time I tried handling POI was during my Calaguas Travel-few years ago. I've met this POI instructress randomly. She was one of the joiners in backpacking travel organized by a famous travel blogger James Betia. I told her that I‘m really interested in learning such an act. She let me use her Poi saying “Just show me how you dance, with the POI yet without any basic knowledge of Poi dancing”.

“Just feel the music, close your eyes and connect yourself to the poi “she added.

I was surprised because I successfully executed the dance with poi, for the first time.  According to her, it shows on my moves that I am really interested and I have the guts to become a fire dancer.

Believing in her influential statement, I exposed myself to random fire dancers in Puerto Galera whenever I had a chance to go there. It was like hitting two birds – having friends and learning the act for free. They taught me some basic techniques and slowly I learned them after a few sessions.

Until now, whenever I have idle time, I watch some instructional videos on YouTube.

Truly, when you’re interested in something, it is frustrating not to satisfy our impetus. In this case, I really wanted to learn this Fire Dance and I’ll find a way as much as I can to master this craft. In fact, I am saving a portion of my daily allowance so that I can buy POI in the future.

What To Expect In Puerto Galera, White Beach On your First Night? - Party Hard!

Advertisement by Google:
I’ve been visiting White Beach Puerto Galera for how many times – as much I remember -e.i. celebrating my birthday alone, escaping the stressful Manila and if I want to drink beers by the beach, then  Puerto Galera is my number one option.  In fact I consider this Beach as my second home because this place taught me to be who I am. This beach is a place wherein there’s no place for discrimination and judgement coming the society. Everyone is welcome and free to be happy.

In this Vlog, I’ll be featuring the happenings in one of my random visits. This was my first night. I arrived in white beach, Puerto Galera at 7PM. I looked for a cheapest room for one night only since the next morning; I need to transfer to the hotel where I booked originally. I grabbed my dinner quickly and went out to party.

Watch this video as everything went wild and full of laughter. Consider this also as a tip on what to expect on “Puerto Galera’s night life”.

🏖 Feeling At Home at Finnese Residencia, Puerto Galera.

 RATING : ⭐⭐⭐

Finding a cocktail bar, restaurant and lodging along the stretch of White Beach, Puerto Galera? Finesse Residencia can provide you – the most accommodating establishment in Puerto Galera (among others) . Owned by a couple, Mr Renante Trinidad and Mrs Jereline Calderon started to run the said establishment on January 2016.
Morning coffee at the Bar.

“We rented this place – Bar and hotel – from the original owner and together with my wife; we opted to run this business.” Mr Trinidad narrated.
e = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); “I never imagine myself running a bar along the shore since I have a sea phobia” he jokingly added.

Mr Trinidad is a certified accountant who used to work in a financial industry. He left the industry because he felt that there is something that he needs to do – something that makes him feels fulfilling.  Ever since, he is an aficionado of mixing liquor and so he worked as a bartender somewhere in Malate and San Juan.

>“I was riding the Banca and I found myself here in Puerto Galera. Ironically, no one can even persuade me riding a banca due to my fear.” He added.

That time, the original owner of the said establishment was planning to have it rented. The couple gave a try to start a new venture.

“I then applied my know-how on mixing liquors.” he humbly uttered.

Mr. Trinidad had an offer for cruise ship as a bartender but he decline the offer due to his fear of the sea.

Finesse Residencia Bar is situated at the left part of the beach. The location is quite silent because it is a distance away from the middle wherein the drag queens and fire dancers exist. But the couple applied their knowledge and ideas to bring the vibrant atmosphere on that area.

Summer of 2016 was their first summer. They brought an urban DJ and ledge dancers from Metro Manila to perform. Surprisingly, even if Puerto Galera is the Gay Mecca of the Country and majority of the guest are Gays, they were surprised because their bar was congested and patronized by gays despite that their performers are straight – ledge dancers and DJ.

“I am proud that we (with wife) were able to bring back the happiness in this pale area. Punong puno ito nung summer, abot hanggang dun (pointing to the beach)” proudly said.

REVIEW:

HOTEL 8/10

Together with my friends, we stayed at Finesse Residencia Hotel for two days and two nights. Since July is off-peak season, we’ve got the room- with two queen size bed, hot and cold shower and aircon - for only PHP1, 000 which will cost you PHP10, 000 during Holy Week. The room is enough to accommodate four guests and more. The water flow is awesome compared to other hotels – “malakas”. There is a television available and a wi-fi connection. Towels are also available upon request.

BAR 9/10

Since the owner is a proud mixologist, his bar offers varieties of mixed liquors which is new to my taste. He served us “Mindoro sling” but the base is vodka and it was truly amazing taste. Though, they charge 10 percent service fee on the top of the total bill, the service is quite pretty ok. Their service crews are attentive to response any request – refill of ice cubes, water and etc.

Moreover, karaoke is also provided for free

OVERALL 9/10

I will go back to this establishment; if I may not able to stay in their hotel maybe I’ll go back here to taste all their liquors. But what I love is that - I was able to meet the owner and had a little conversation. And I appreciate it so much.

Escaping Urban Living & Giving Time to Myself

Good day guys!

I just got home from a short vacation in ‪#‎puertogalera‬ - three days July 2,3 and 4, 2015 .It was fun and vibrant experience. I was able to meet random people from different walks of life – had drinks and rave party all night. But what is the most highlight of my travel - “I WAS ABLE TO WORSHIP AGAIN THE SUNSET” after six months of continuous working for a living.

Sigh!!! ... While staring at the colourful sunset.. The sun talked to me “Baby, it is ok to breathe in!”

(Video : I was waiting for the sunset at Tamaraw Resort, Puerto Galera with my friend Kuya Allan)

Sobrang tagal ko na pala na di ako nakakita ng sunset” Yes, I almost forgot when was the last time I witnessed the beauty of twilight. I just realized that I roughly exposed myself too much working for a living, to the point that I felt myself imprisoned because it was my option. I was captured in a reality that I have to prioritize my work or else I have nothing to pay for my bills.

One time, I come up an idea “WHY NOT LIVE AS MINIMALIST?”- Living life in a simple way, no lavish expenses, no stress and living my life in the fullest. But still i have to think twice – pros and cons.

I felt a sudden slow pace moment and I answered “I am now ready to go back to the real world tomorrow”

I am hoping that once i'll get back to the urban zone.. everything will be OK

Curiosity is one motivation why people tend to do risky things. As for me, curiosity is one of the reasons why I travel. I always look forward to what exciting things might happen to me. Not too different from a one-year-old baby who is only starting to learn what the world can offer him.

During my first Puerto Galera visit, curiosity is also the reason why I visited the “landmarks”. After all, every time that I check blogs about the place, there are always two places associated with it – “Jurassic Park” and “Rockwell”. So I was very curious about these, definitely.

What about “Jurassic Park”?

“Jurassic Park” is a spot situated in White Beach in Puerto Galera.  It is, wihtout playing with words, where cruising happens. It is located at the extreme end of the beach, at your right side when you are facing the sea. The place is a remote area wherein silence exists.

“Jurassic Park” is actually a sea cliff that has three layers – the gays label it as the Ground floor, Second Level and the Third Level.

Ground Floor is the area at the beach.  In this area, majority of the gays stay since this is the safest part of the area. This is also the right place to find a prospective partner for the night and to maybe bring to the Second Level or Third Level.

Adjacent to the beach area is the Second Level, where only few trees survived.  These trees are the only cover that hide the “extraordinary happenings” in this area.  This is the favorite place of those who prefer quickies because there is a privacy as long as no one will attempt to climb to watch.

The top part of the cliff is where the Third Level is situated.  This is the place for those who really want extreme cruising because it is totally private. You need to be a somewhat good climber, hauling yourself up using the vines and rocks, just to watch what happens above.

Cruising 2012
This picture became viral online . thanks to the owner
Advertisement by Google:
Obviously, the name “Jurassic Park” is associated with the movie because you have to climb, crawl, et cetera just to reach and experience the safest part of the place, somewhat akin to a scene in the movie.

A veteran cruiser and a friend of mine said: “Sa ibaba, kaya madaming tao diyan, dahil iyan ang lugar kung saan , diyan naghahanap (At the Ground Floor, there are lots of people there because that’s where they try to find prospective partners).”

Due to scandals occurring way back in 2011, it became a widely-discussed place, resulting to the closing of the said spot. The local government assigned barangay police to secure the area so that cruising will not happen anymore.

“Grabe nga, minsan dati, may mga nag-flashlight na mga tanod at nanghuhuli diyan dati (It was bad in the past, when barangay officials arrested people there),” my friend added.

Not that this stopped cruising from happening.  Gays still found ways to do have adventures.

This place was eventually re-opened.

Interestingly, the place is not just for gays, but self-described straight men too.  Actually, straight men visit this place not just to watch, but sometimes to join.  And so, you will not be able to distinguish who is gay, straight or bi.

What about “Rockwell”?
MASUNDAN NGA :Look at
these two men. I smell something fishy.

“Rockwell” is located at the extreme left side of the White Beach when you are facing the sea. It is another spot for cruising.

“Rockwell” is actually based from the word “batuhan” (rocky place). The spot has huge rock formations that provide the cruisers more private places. Its like owning a cubicle once you find a perfect area. But the place is full of danger because it is too dark and the rocks are slippery due to algae. So I won’t advise you to go there if you are drunk, or even just a bit tipsy.

Incidentally, the “batuhan” area is the entry point going to Tamaraw Beach Resort, where some of the socialites (and social climbing) gays stay.

Kaunti lang ang tao sa batuhan pero quality ang mga nandoon kaysa sa (There aren’t that many men in Rockwell, but at times they are better than those you find at) ‘Jurassic Park’,” my friend said.

What he recommends doing is hopping from one place to the other.

“Palakad-lakad lang ako sa magkabilang dulo.  Sa sobrang layo ng nilalakad ko, tanggal ang kalasingan ko (I just walk from one end of the beach to the other. Due to the distance, I become sober from walking too long),” he jokingly said.

And yes, police patrolling the area also have a hard time to catch the cruisers due to the large and slippery rocks, so gays can hide here better.

Having shared my firsthand, and first-time exposure to the two famous landmarks of Puerto Gay-lera, please remember to be safe always when there. Be responsible enough. There are NGOs that distribute condoms for free at the beach during peak seasons (aside from giving free HIV antibody test).

So enjoy… with caution.
