🍰Freshly Baked Banana Cake and Crinkles From Big Tummy MNL.

Let us support small businesses, yeah you heard it right.

In the middle of the COVID 19, pandemic wherein numerous people lost their job; the online selling approach became a trendsetter nowadays. The physical stores quickly became obsolete and virtual transactions became popular. And those people who lost their job took advantage of this technology to earn money despite this recent hindrance.

Recently, as part of supporting micro-businesses, I bought food from this online shop named BigTummyMNL. I ordered 2 boxes of Banana Cake amounting to php175 each and 12 dozen crinkles amounting to PHP 100; delivery fee shouldered by me which is quite affordable depending on how far you’re located.

A slice of Banana Cake perfect for coffee. I actually eat it before my shift at work; I just simply grab a slice of it. Put inside in a microwave to re-heat and boom. Perfect sweet to increase my sugar, and caffeine to increase my dopamine; which leads into a positive and productive night – doing my task as I am working from home at night.

The actual banana cake that I received.

Taste-wise, the cake’s texture is quite “sponge-ish” as opposed to what is my preference “moist cake” (but still it is subjective because I love moist cake) but it tastes good as the aroma of banana cake is dominant. Since I didn’t eat it right away and I stocked it inside my ref for a span of 1 week, to my surprise, those lasted longer and I even just consumed 1 slice every set, re-heating is the key to make it soft.

On the top of the cake, to make it more visually appetizing, they sprinkle chocolates.

When it comes to crinkles, Girl, I like the transparent packaging. It actually captures your attention – what’s inside. It tastes good as well.

As of the time being, I am waiting for my next order…another two banana cake again.

Growing up, like many dreamers, I often fantasized about stepping into the limelight and becoming part of the entertainment industry. The glitz, the glamour, and the thought of performing on national television seemed magical. So, when I heard about auditions for ABS-CBN’s "I Can See Your Voice," I knew I had to give it a shot. It was one of the network's most popular shows, and the idea of even having a second of screen time felt like a monumental achievement. Little did I know, this experience would become more than just an attempt at stardom—it became a lesson in resilience and self-discovery.

The audition process was intense, to say the least. From preparing my story to rehearsing my performance, I poured my heart into every step. However, as the competition unfolded, it became clear that I didn’t quite fit the mold of what the show was looking for. Perhaps I lacked the “star quality” or simply didn’t align with the narrative they wanted to tell. At first, the rejection stung. I questioned whether I was good enough and if I had what it took to succeed in such a competitive space. But as time passed, I realized this was just one path of many—and it wasn’t the end of my story.

When ABS-CBN’s operations ceased, the world of mainstream media shifted dramatically. During that time, I found solace and an incredible opportunity in YouTube. Unlike traditional platforms, YouTube embraced diversity and gave creators like me the freedom to express ourselves authentically. Through this space, I’ve been able to share my life, connect with an incredible audience, and, most importantly, find my voice. I realized that success doesn’t always mean being on TV or winning a contest. It’s about staying true to yourself, creating meaningful connections, and finding joy in what you do.

Looking back, my audition wasn’t a failure—it was a stepping stone. It taught me to value my journey and appreciate the platforms that allow me to be unapologetically me. While mainstream media once felt like the ultimate dream, I now understand there are countless ways to make an impact. To anyone chasing their dreams, remember: every setback is a setup for something greater. The stage is wherever you make it—so make it yours. 🌟

🍳REVIEW: Perfect Size Multi-Cooker for Small Condominium Units and Apartments.

Living in a small-sized Condominium Units or Apartments is not an easy lifestyle. It takes tactfulness in choosing what to buy and what to bring inside your room as it has limited space. It is not advisable to buy full-sized appliances if you’re living in tiny rooms. Mostly, in purchasing cooking appliances; it has to be compact and multifunction.

I am recommending you this item that I bought from an online platform Lazada – a small electric multi-cooker.

WATCH THE VIDEO:

I’ve been using this multi-cooker for almost half a year now and I have no huge problem with it. At first, I was under the impression that it won’t last long since the price was kinda cheap and we all know that most of cheaper appliances when it comes to durability seemingly questionable. But after using this multiple times, the function is still perfectly fine – it still can cook.
The price is Php399

  • Made from non-stick ceramic coating + food grade PP.
  • Suitable to fry, steam, braised, stew, and all kinds of cooking purposes.
  • Adjustable power (225W/450W) to suit your cooking need.
  • Tempered glass lids cover for durability and safety.
  • Anti-scald pot handle with a comfortable grip.
  • Double safety protection with automatic power-off function when the temperature exceeds 200°C.
  • Equipped with fuse to prevent accidents in case temperature regulator faulty.
  • Material: Plastic, Stainless Steel, Wood
  • Capacity: 1.2L
  • Control Mode: Push Button
  • Electric/Hot Pot Function: Stir-Fry, Teppanyaki, Hot Pot, Stewing, Braising, Steaming, Frying, Frying, Boiling
  • Power: 225w-450w
  • Voltage: 250V, 10A
  • Size: 28x16x16cm(Product), 31x23x17cm(Packaging)
  • Weight: 620g(Net), 980g(Gross)
  • Package Included: 1.2L Stainless Steel Grade Multi-Cooker (Without Steamer) SB-D08, 1pc Wooden spade, 1pc AU Cord, Users Manual, Packaging Box
  • Available Color: Red, Beige, Mint Green

One thing that I only noticed is that the heating iron behind its actual cooker is not evenly heating. It is noticeable as the left part of the whole cooker is burned and the opposite side is not. But good thing, the Teflon (non-stick ceramic coating) is still fine after how many times I washed it. We just need to avoid using metal material to mix your foods and do not use the green side of the sponge while when washing.

Overall, I must say that this item is worth buying. For the amount of php399, until now I am still using it and it is still working.

In these challenging times, let’s stay safe, stay home, and show our support for frontliners while making the most of what we have. With the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) Season 3 extended until May 15, managing limited food supplies has become crucial for many households.

In this blog, I’ll share simple yet effective tips to save food and avoid waste. And to make things even more exciting, I’ll teach you how to whip up a budget-friendly, no-waste fried rice recipe!

🎥 WATCH THE VLOG:

Food-Saving Tips During ECQ

Here are some quick ways to make your food last longer and minimize waste:

  • Plan Your Meals: List down the ingredients you have and create a weekly menu. This helps avoid unnecessary trips to the store.
  • Store Food Properly: Use airtight containers and freeze perishable items to prolong shelf life.
  • Repurpose Leftovers: Transform yesterday’s meal into something new—like turning leftover rice into delicious fried rice!
  • Buy Versatile Ingredients: Stock up on basics like eggs, canned goods, and fresh produce that can be used in multiple dishes.
  • Monitor Expiry Dates: Arrange items in your pantry by their expiration dates, using the oldest ones first.

Easy Sinangag Recipe

Let’s get cooking! Sinangag (fried rice) is a classic Filipino dish that makes use of leftover rice and pantry staples.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups leftover rice (preferably a day old)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional add-ons: diced vegetables, eggs, leftover meat, or canned tuna

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Rice: Break up clumps of leftover rice with a fork to make frying easier.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a large pan or wok, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until golden brown and fragrant.
  3. Add the Rice: Toss in the rice and stir to mix with the garlic. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Season It: Add a dash of salt and pepper. For extra flavor, drizzle soy sauce and mix well.
  5. Customize Your Fried Rice: Add diced vegetables, leftover meat, or a beaten egg for a hearty twist. Stir until everything is heated through.
  6. Serve Hot: Plate your fried rice and enjoy it as is or with your favorite ulam (viand).

Why Sinangag is Perfect During ECQ

  • Minimizes Waste: Uses up leftover rice and whatever ingredients you have on hand.
  • Budget-Friendly: Affordable ingredients make it a go-to dish.
  • Quick and Easy: Perfect for busy days or when you’re too tired to cook something elaborate.

Stay Safe and Cook Smart!

Let’s make staying at home more enjoyable by experimenting with simple recipes like this. Remember, every small step counts in supporting our frontliners and managing our resources wisely during ECQ.

🎥 Filipino Foods - Boiled Swamp Cabbage or River Spinach (aka Kangkong) with Ginamos.

I will be sharing with you my simple way of cooking the so-called kangkong. Kangkong is a semi-aquatic tropical plant that’s a popular vegetable in the Philippines.

The word kangkong has been translated into English as swamp cabbage or river spinach, but those names don’t reflect what kangkong really is except for the fact that it grows where there’s a lot of water. It has also been called “swamp morning glory” because of its flowers.

It has also been called “swamp morning glory” because of its flowers. The tender hollow stems of Kangkong (tangkong in Visayan) are used in cooking as well as its leaves.  It can be stir-fried, steamed, boiled or lightly fried in oil.

But for now, let us just boil it as quick as possible.

Boiled Kangkong is tasteless if there is no sauce partnered with it. I am using Ginamos (Visayan) or in Filipino, Bagoong. Ginamos is a salted and fermented small fish called solid. It some, it might smell bad but for me, this is something that will make your cooking elevated. Just put chopped tomatoes and onion in a bowl of Ginamos.

Kangkong with Bagoong is truly a Pinoy dish and perfect with rice.

Rice with Ginisang Pusit on the top

I hope you'll enjoy.

Blood sugar tests are a great way to assess if you’re at risk for diabetes, and with diabetes being so common, it’s important to stay proactive about these things. Like many, I was a little anxious as I waited for the results, wondering if my sweet tooth or recent lifestyle habits had caught up with me. The anticipation was real, but I knew that whatever the result, it was a valuable step toward better health. experiences inspire others to prioritize their well-being too!

After receiving my blood test results, I felt a wave of relief mixed with a stronger sense of responsibility toward my health. Regardless of the outcome, managing health through balanced meals and an active lifestyle is key. This brings me to the second part of my day—cooking a nutritious meal at home! Since I want to be mindful of what I eat, I made a simple, healthy dish: sautéed veggies with bangus nuggets in tomato sauce. Bangus, or milkfish, is a Filipino favorite known for being delicious and protein-packed, and pairing it with fresh veggies and a light tomato sauce felt like the perfect choice. Cooking this meal allowed me to control what goes into my food, making it healthier and enjoyable.

First Package that I got was from Telesin Ph Official Store.

Tempered Glass Screen Protector for GoPro Hero 5, Hero 6 and Hero 7 Action Camera. It is amounting to ₱259.00 which includes – (a) 1 wet wipe, (b) 1 dry wipe, (c) 1 vial of oil cleaner, (d) stickers, and (e) tempered glasses for monitor and for the lens. I do the job of putting the tempered glass and cleaning my GoPro since those are just self-explanatory. I must say that I love the product. I got it in good condition and it was packed safely.

Charging Kit 3-Channel Desktop Charger + 2 Rechargeable Batteries. It is amounting to ₱999.00 which includes – The Charging Dock that can charge three batteries at the same time; two 1220mah Rechargeable Batteries for GoPro Hero 5, GoPro Hero 6, GoPro Hero 7 Action Camera; and  MicroUSB Cable. I haven’t used it yet to its full potential but according to my co-vlogger that Telesin Batteries are reliable third-party accessories for action cameras. I hope that this will last longer since one battery cost ₱559.00 if you buy it separately.

Rechargeable 1220mAh Power Battery for GoPro Hero 5, GoPro Hero 6, GoPro Hero 7 Action Camera. It is amounting to ₱559.00. I must admit that I am hoarding extra batteries for GoPro Hero 6 since I hate not being able to capture the moment because of a drained battery. 1220mAh is not really enough especially if you do travel vlog. And so I decided to buy one, aside from the two that I got from the Charging Kit 3-Channel Package. I just hope that this will last since ₱559.00 is not a joke. Again, I haven’t used it yet to the full capacity but I am hopeful Telesin won’t disappoint me in this.

Elastic Harness Head Strap for Action Camera and it is amounting to ₱239.00 – I just bought this, assuming that this accessory might help me recording my point of view for a vlog. It is elastic, durable and so it fits easily to my head however when I tried to wear it and look myself at the mirror – it seems awkward-looking as I have long hair. But I will surely use this in my future travels and adventures.

And lastly, the next package is from Moeder Home International Corp. I bought Baron BRL Digital Antenna which is amounting to ₱799.00 plus ₱50 for the shipping fee. The Baron BRL Digital Antenna is a specially designed digital TV antenna for indoor and outdoor use. It will enhance the reception of Digital Signal for better and clearer reception. The BRL is beneficial for areas wherein digital signals are weak and prone to dead spots. This antenna is ideal for and bundling with Digital Set-Top Boxes and DTV Ready Television Sets.

WATCH VLOG FROM GADGET ADDICT:

Since my TV is Digital-ready, I didn’t bother buying the ABS-CBN TV box anymore. I scanned the channel and I got 42 Channels ( 2 analog and 40 Digital), ABSCBN and GMA7 are both clear but all of the channels that are being scanned and featured in ABS-CBN TV Box are all encrypted. This means that it is not accessible unless you are using the ABS-CBN TV Box.  I must say that this antenna is perfectly partnered with the ABS-CBN TV Box but for now, I won’t purchase it since I already have my EVPAD 3s – an internet streaming box for all major channels.

I actually just buy this product to satisfy my curiosity – if my TV is really working with an indoor antenna and can broadcast digital channels. After getting the answer, I think I am not really getting the value of the product since ABS-CBN and GMA7 are just two major channels that I might watch in the future.
