The highlight of the day? A classic Filipino-style boodle fight! We dined together with no utensils, sharing not just food but laughter and stories. The resort’s lush surroundings and serene vibe provided the ideal backdrop for our bonding activities. Whether it was diving into the pool, playing team games, or simply relaxing in nature, every moment was memorable.

 In the vibrant neighborhood of Xavierville Avenue, Quezon City, there once stood a lively food park known as The Yard Xavierville. This place wasn't just a food hub; it was a melting pot of flavors, creativity, and camaraderie. Located at 83 Xavierville Ave, Quezon City, The Yard was a haven for foodies seeking diverse and affordable gastronomical delights. Although it officially closed its doors in December 2024, it left behind unforgettable memories for those who had the chance to experience its magic.

A Culinary Wonderland

The Yard was no ordinary food park. It was a bustling venue filled with colorful stalls offering a wide range of cuisines—from Korean barbecue to Filipino street food, gourmet burgers, Japanese sushi, and even quirky dessert options like nitrogen ice cream. Each stall had its unique aesthetic, drawing you in with vibrant lights, creative signage, and mouthwatering aromas.

The food wasn’t just about taste—it was an experience. Whether it was a sizzling plate of Samgyupsal, a towering burger stack, or a meticulously crafted sushi roll, The Yard had something to cater to every craving.

Our Experience at The Yard

We visited The Yard Xavierville as a barkada (group of friends), and the experience was nothing short of epic. Alongside my close friends, Jaymie Lee and Mikki Labastida, we set out to indulge in the diverse offerings of this iconic food park.

The energy of The Yard was palpable. The mix of live music, the laughter of patrons, and the lively chatter from the stalls created an electric atmosphere. As we walked around, it was hard to decide where to start. Eventually, we opted for a little bit of everything:

• Korean BBQ: We couldn’t resist the aroma of sizzling Samgyupsal. The perfectly marinated meat paired with kimchi and unlimited sides was heavenly.
• Street Tacos: A blend of smoky, spicy, and tangy flavors exploded in our mouths with every bite.
• Milkshakes and Desserts: For dessert, we tried some towering milkshakes topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and cookies. It was indulgence at its finest.

We spent hours sharing stories, laughing, and savoring every bite. The Yard wasn’t just a place to eat—it was a venue to create memories.

Getting There

For those unfamiliar with the area, getting to The Yard Xavierville was fairly straightforward:

• From Cubao, you could head to Gateway Mall, then take the LRT-2 to Katipunan Station or hop on a jeep along Aurora Boulevard heading to Cogeo, SSS, Parang, or Calumpang.
• If coming from Katipunan Station or the Katipunan Flyover, you could either walk to Xavierville or take a quick tricycle ride from Esteban Abada.

Though it required a bit of effort, the journey was always worth it.

A Sad Farewell

It’s bittersweet to know that The Yard Xavierville has now closed. It was one of those rare places that brought together food, culture, and community. While its doors are no longer open, the memories it created for countless patrons will remain cherished.

The store had a decent selection of office furniture, but I quickly realized their options were limited and on the pricier side. While I appreciated their stylish pieces, none of the chairs felt like “the one.” Disappointed yet undeterred, I decided to explore other options. Instead of giving up, I hopped on a jeepney and headed to Mandaue Foam along Shaw Boulevard, hoping for better choices and deals.

Mandaue Foam: A Four-Story Furniture Haven

Stepping into Mandaue Foam was like entering furniture paradise. This massive four-story building was filled with an extensive range of home and office furniture. I was impressed by the variety of designs and the quality of the items on display. However, there was a noticeable downside—the lack of sales staff available to assist customers. I wandered around the ground floor, trying to locate someone who could help me navigate the sprawling building.

Eventually, I found the customer service desk at the lobby, where a staff member told me to go to the fourth floor where office chairs were displayed. When I arrived, there was only one salesperson, already busy with another customer. Without assistance, I explored the floor on my own, spotting several options that caught my eye. Then I found it—the Orson visitor chair, a stylish and functional piece originally priced at ₱5,000 but marked down to ₱3,000 with a 30% discount. It was the perfect balance of comfort, quality, and affordability.

A Satisfying Purchase

After deciding on the Orson chair, I headed to the cashier, finalized my purchase, and booked a Grab car to take me and my new chair home. Once I got home, I eagerly unboxed and assembled it, and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. After our exhausting night shift, my friend Joy and I decided to treat ourselves to a hearty breakfast at Dell's Cafeteria, located at 3 World Square, Upper McKinley Road, McKinley Hill, Taguig City. Known for its affordable and diverse food options, Dell's has become a favorite among local employees and visitors. The cafeteria's casual and inviting atmosphere provided a much-needed respite as we anticipated a satisfying meal.

Dell's menu caters to a wide range of tastes, and we were eager to sample its offerings. Joy opted for the classic Filipino breakfast, Tapsilog, which consists of marinated beef, rice, and a sunny-side-up egg. The beef was tender and flavorful, more of sweet side, complemented perfectly by the garlic-infused regular rice (not fried) and the richness of the egg. Meanwhile, I chose the Chicken Mole, a dish that surprised me with its bold, savory-sweet sauce and perfectly cooked chicken. The portions were generous, providing excellent value for money.

To top off our meal, I treated Joy to some Coffee Jelly for dessert and fruit beers to quench our thirst. The Coffee Jelly was a delightful blend of rich coffee flavor and creamy sweetness, a perfect end to our breakfast. The fruit beers were refreshing, offering a light and fruity twist that balanced out our savory dishes. While we were enjoying the conversation, we gradually felt the 3 percent of alcohol and we started to loosen up.  Dell's efficient service ensured that our food arrived promptly, allowing us to enjoy our meal without any delays.

 As I planned my much-awaited vacation to Baler, Aurora, I faced a common dilemma for pet owners: who would look after my beloved American Bully, Escobar, while I was away? After some research, I found the perfect solution just a tricycle ride away from my condo unit - the VIP Pet Hotel & Wellness Center in Mandaluyong.

Why VIP Pet Hotel?

VIP, short for Vets in Practice, offers a comprehensive pet boarding service that prioritizes both pet comfort and owner peace of mind. Located at No. 63 Maysilo Circle, corner Boni Ave, Mandaluyong, this facility is split into two sections: one for wellness and sick pets, and another exclusively for the pet hotel.

Preparation and Check-In

Before boarding, I made sure Escobar’s vaccinations were fully updated. VIP Pet Hotel requires pets to have complete and current vaccinations, including 5-in-1, Anti-Rabies, Kennel Cough, and Deworming for dogs. Puppies and kittens under six months old are not accepted, and all pets must have a tick and flea treatment before their stay.

On May 24th, I prepared Escobar for his stay. After a refreshing bath, we hopped into a tricycle and headed to VIP Pet Hotel. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly guard and directed to the left side of the building where the pet hotel reception is located. The right side is dedicated to the wellness center.

The check-in process was smooth and efficient. I signed some agreements, presented Escobar’s medical records, and handed over his leash, food, and toys to a caregiver. Due to safety and hygiene protocols, I couldn’t accompany Escobar upstairs to the kennel room, but I was reassured by the professional demeanor of the staff.

Daily Updates and Peace of Mind

One of the highlights of VIP Pet Hotel’s service is their commitment to keeping owners informed. Every day, I received updates via Viber, including videos of Escobar during playtime, eating, and even his bathroom breaks. This constant communication made my vacation stress-free, knowing that Escobar was in good hands.

Facing My Fears Again: Living in a Building Turned Quarantine Facility.

 Living through a pandemic has been an emotional rollercoaster for many, and just when I thought I had found some stability, a new wave of anxiety has hit me hard. Recently, I discovered that our building has been approved as a quarantine facility. This unexpected news has brought back the fear and sleepless nights I experienced during the first two weeks of lockdown. During those initial days, I felt overwhelmed by the uncertainty and constant worry about the virus, but I managed to regain some peace by keeping myself busy and focusing on daily tasks. However, learning about this new development has caused all those buried anxieties to resurface.

In my latest sitdown vlog, I open up about how this situation has affected me mentally and emotionally. It's disheartening that, as of now, there hasn't been a clear explanation from the Bureau of Quarantine on why our building was chosen. This lack of communication only adds to the stress and confusion. I find myself struggling to sleep again and feeling scared to step outside, a stark reminder of the fear I thought I had overcome. Sharing my story through this vlog is not only a way to process my own feelings but also to reach out to others who might be experiencing similar anxieties.  Last weekend, I had the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and dive into a refreshing adventure in Cambridge Village, Pasig City. My friends Jaymie Lee and I were invited by our officemate, Mikki Labastida, to his cozy condo unit, where we had the perfect getaway. The highlight of our day was undoubtedly the swimming pools. The serene environment and crystal-clear water offered the ideal setting for relaxation and fun. Whether we were floating lazily on the water or engaging in playful water games, the experience was rejuvenating and filled with joy.

Our escapade wasn't just about swimming; it was about creating memories with great company. As we lounged by the poolside, we shared stories, laughed heartily, and enjoyed the beautiful amenities Cambridge Village has to offer. REVIEW: Overnight Stay At Royal Palm Residences, Taguig City.

We have decided to discreetly book an apartment unit at Royal Palm Residences in Taguig City to celebrate my friend's birthday - William Pombo. That was exciting because that said plan for a surprise party was agreed upon by the majority - there are Britney Spears's Fans who became my circle of friends.   

 

We opted for the said Condominium Establishment because it has a swimming pool and is accessible within Metro Manila; no need to drive away from the city just to experience a staycation and celebration at the same time. It is also nearby Maple Place, Rosewood Pointe, and Mulberry Place, maybe that is one of the reasons why short-term rental is affordable because it is surrounded by nearby condo establishments that offer with same services.

This 4.12-hectare Thai tropical-inspired residential community, composed of eight mid-rise and two-high rise buildings, blends old-world charm with modern conveniences. Find your home in Taguig city, close to Bonifacio Global City and the Makati CBD in a studio, two- or three-bedroom, or tandem unit, with prices that range from P2.7M to 6.39M. Luxuriate in amenities that include gardens, courts, pools, and various other facilities for your pleasure and entertainment.

Eight mid-rise buildings are named Karon, Kata, Railay, Yanao, Phuket, Nui, Pansea, and Samui. These buildings have 5 levels of residential floors and only 1 level of basement parking.

While the two-high rise buildings are named Kamala and Rawai. Those two buildings have has 

14 Levels Residential Floors, 3 Level Podium Parking, 1 Level Basement Parking. We stayed in Kamala Building so the sunset can be seen in front of the balcony.

FEEDBACK:

I love the place. Especially, if you have your own unit, I assumed that you'll get relaxed during weekends from your tiring work because the place is not crowded unlike with Azure Urban Resort and Residences. This establishment is a residential place but became open to the public for short-term leases like a weekend staycation; during the boom of Airbnb, among others.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Unit that we booked, I love it. It has plenty of rooms and bathrooms. It has a maid room and master bedroom. It has complete kitchen utensils and cooking equipment so we're able to cook our food for the party. A ref that we put the birthday cake and drinks. It has also a wifi connection and cable for television. When it comes to cleanliness, I didn't see any cockroaches and insects, nor foul smell.

I only noticed the discoloration on the common bathtub and some molds on the gutter. But on the master's bedroom-owned washroom, it was extremely elegant and pristine.

General Facilities in this establishment are complete. So, if I live here, I maybe not go out unless buying grocery supplies.

The developer is DMCI Homes, so no questions when it comes to aesthetics. But the solemnity of the place is what I loved. You knew the fact that you can go to any amenities without going to a long queue. And above all, you can set down in one of the gazebos and not worrying your belongings might get stolen due to overcrowding.

TIPS:

1. When looking for a staycation. Make sure to ask the owner - what day the swimming pool is not open to the public. There are days that swimming pools are only exclusive for the unit owners and not to guests. There are also days that amenities are close to both unit owners and guests due to weekly maintenance.
2. If you don't own a car, and you've booked for a staycation; much better if you buy all your food and groceries before heading to the establishment because you have to walk for a few minutes just to get out of the area and reach the public vehicle terminal. ⛵ Experience the Wave Pool at Azure Urban Resort Residences.

THE AZURE WAVE POOL. A very own man-made beach comes with a wave machine that creates fun beach waves every few minutes.

We drove 30-40 minutes via Grabcar, all the way from Nichols Pasay to  KM 16 W Service Rd, Bicutan, Parañaque City- where Azure Urban Residences. Since one of my friends named Sol stayed there, she invited us to visit her place and experience the Azure Wave Pool. 

Azure Urban Residences has nine captivating mid-rise towers that are owned by private residents. But it became open to the public as it has its own amazing resort. In addition, the booming business of short-term lease also known as Staycation turns this place open to the visitors. Every building at the Azure is characterized by modern tropical aesthetics and design The establishment can be indulged and booked through Airbnb, among others.

One of the amenities -"The Paris Beach Club", is designed by celebrity Paris Hilton. It is a clubhouse in front of the Azure Wave Pool which encapsulates the essence of Paris, showcasing the designer's world-class standard in design, amenities, and services.

At the main gate, strict security is being practiced. You cannot go inside if you have no confirmed booking. In our case, the security guard called the tower's lobby where Sol is residing, to confirm the resident that they were expecting guests. Once arrived at the tower's lobby, another security measure is needed. you have to leave your Identification Card.

Inside ONE-BEDROOM where Sol resides. It has a TOTAL AREA: 28.863 sqm. 

There is a LAGOON POOL, but this is only exclusive to residents, the Azure’s lagoon pool is the next option for a more relaxed swim as the Wave Pool is surprisingly crowded.  I must admit, the place has a really fantastic view and can be bragged to your social media.

According to my friend who stayed there, you can even book a room for one night amounting to PHP1,500 and can accommodate 3-4 people. The Wave Pool has an entrance fee but since we're escorted by my friend, we got it for free. Unfortunately, the wave pool is not continuously offering its so-called waves. There is only a specific time they turn it on. 

Overall, I must say that, if you're looking for beach fun, this place is an alternative to consider because it is located in the Metro. But if you would like to relax, I cannot recommend it; due to overcrowded common areas. If you would like to visit the place for ocular and photography, then go for it. But seems this place is something that I won't visit again intentionally, just to swim. Somewhat, experiencing once is enough for me just to satisfy my curiosity.
