From Denpasar Airport, I was picked up and brought to Pandawa Beach Homestay, which is about a 45–60 minute drive. Pandawa is located more in the countryside, away from Bali’s busy city proper, making it a much quieter and more peaceful place. Since I arrived at the airport around 1 AM from NAIA, I decided to book the car pickup service offered by the homestay for my safety. It cost me around ₱3,000, on top of my accommodation fee. While there are more affordable options like motorcycle-hailing apps such as Gojek, or even the motorcycle queue outside the airport, I opted for the more convenient and safer car pickup service.

When I arrived at Pandawa Beach Homestay, the area was already dark and quiet—most of the stores were closed, and there was no food available nearby. Good thing I had the GrabFood app installed, and I was relieved to discover that it also works in Indonesia. That night, my food was delivered right to the homestay, and it was my first time trying authentic Indonesian Mi Goreng. After that satisfying meal, I went straight to bed, though I only managed to sleep for about four hours before waking up early at 7 AM.

The accommodation included a free breakfast as part of my overnight stay. In the morning, I headed to their common dining area where guests could order food. My breakfast set came with bread, eggs, fruits, and coffee. Since I’m used to the Philippines where food servings have become noticeably smaller due to inflation, I decided to order extra—Nasi Goreng and a glass of fresh juice—on top of the free meal. To my surprise, the serving sizes were huge and very affordable! The Nasi Goreng was so generous that I couldn’t even finish it all. This was such a big difference compared to the portions back home. I ended up packing the leftovers and storing them in the fridge, which worked out perfectly because checkout wasn’t until 12 noon. That meant I still had delicious food to eat before leaving the homestay.

After finishing my breakfast, I headed to the pool to relax by the side, wander around, and soak in the serene atmosphere of Pandawa Beach Homestay. The place reminded me of the provinces in the Philippines, but with a unique tropical vibe that made the experience even more refreshing

They also offer motorbike rentals, giving you the freedom to explore Bali at your own pace. Just keep in mind that the rental fee covers only the bike, while fuel and other expenses will be on your account.

One of the staff from the accommodation suggested that I should at least make a quick visit to Pandawa Beach. She was kind enough to offer me a ride on a motorbike, since the beach is just a few minutes away from where I stayed

By the way, the word pintu in Bali is the same as pinto in Filipino—both mean ‘door.’ A fun little language connection I discovered during my stay!

Interestingly, the word buka in Bali also means ‘to open,’ which is the same in Filipino. It’s amazing how some words connect our languages despite the distance.

 As I planned my much-awaited vacation to Baler, Aurora, I faced a common dilemma for pet owners: who would look after my beloved American Bully, Escobar, while I was away? After some research, I found the perfect solution just a tricycle ride away from my condo unit - the VIP Pet Hotel & Wellness Center in Mandaluyong.

Preparation and Check-In

Before boarding, I made sure Escobar’s vaccinations were fully updated. VIP Pet Hotel requires pets to have complete and current vaccinations, including 5-in-1, Anti-Rabies, Kennel Cough, and Deworming for dogs. Puppies and kittens under six months old are not accepted, and all pets must have a tick and flea treatment before their stay.

On May 24th, I prepared Escobar for his stay. After a refreshing bath, we hopped into a tricycle and headed to VIP Pet Hotel. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly guard and directed to the left side of the building where the pet hotel reception is located. The right side is dedicated to the wellness center.

The check-in process was smooth and efficient. I signed some agreements, presented Escobar’s medical records, and handed over his leash, food, and toys to a caregiver. Due to safety and hygiene protocols, I couldn’t accompany Escobar upstairs to the kennel room, but I was reassured by the professional demeanor of the staff.

Every day, I received updates via Viber, including videos of Escobar during playtime, eating, and even his bathroom breaks. Meanwhile, I personally experienced how Overnight Manila handled their client. They kept in touch with me via email regarding the details of my stay. One of their employees met us at the lobby to personally welcome us. She brought us to the various amenities inside the building.

We stayed at Knightsbridge Residences located at the heart of Makati. I was honestly amazed because of the sophisticated ambiance of the place. When I arrived at the lobby, I noticed right away their security guards “like they’re all pleasing in my eyes darling!”. Inside, you can discern that the interior and architectural designs were actually inspired by United Kingdom theme. The intricate designs on the ceiling   are proof how luxurious the place is. The chandeliers are massive that give a tungsten ambiance around the place. At the hallway, artificial deer antlers are attached on the wall adjacent to the elevators door and it gives a characteristic of the place.



Heading towards to our room, I really love the hotel standard bed and the sofa-bed that can accommodate four guests. The lights are sunken on the ceiling which gives a homey feeling.  The bathroom is clean that has hot and cold shower available. Toothbrush, shampoo, soup and tissue paper are also in there - offered. It has a decent kitchen with induction cooker, rice cooker and kitchenware. Coffee, tea and chocolate drinks are also for free. The wall facing to City Hall is entirely made of glass so that you can see outside without actually doing there. Indeed, dining table with four chairs is also available.



As an online content creator, internet is really essential for me prior of booking a hotel or condo. But I was surprised how fast the internet they have as I was able to broadcast live in my Youtube Channel in 720 resolution.  If you want to stay the whole day inside, that is fine because they have Ruku TV with Netlfix and Youtube.

NIGHTLIFE

Since it was Sunday night, unfortunately the nightlife was somewhat pale, but bars, clubs, spas and other establishments were still open. I was just expecting a more dynamic nightlife which obviously – it wasn’t. It was actually raining and that might be the reason why the bars were not that kind of vibrant. But if you stay at Knightsbridge Residences, the access to various establishments isn’t stressful as you can just walk – eg. City Century Mall and etcetera.



Undeniably, my 31st birthday stay-cation that was held at Knightsbridge Residences is one of my unforgettable moments as I was able to bond with my friends at the same time I was able to work with Overnight Manila as a social media partner.

👨‍🍳 A Formal Cooking Show Turns Into a Comedy Vlog.

After we finished distributing the goods to the street children along Roxas Boulevard in Malate, Manila; we – the Pinoys Heart Britney together with yours truly- headed towards Ortigas , Pasig City as William Pombo booked an overnight  room for us at Oakwood Premier Joy- Nostalg Hotel.  The said overnight stay-cation is a celebration for the success of “Why Don’t You Do Somethin’?- Charity event.

We arrived at 10PM in the hotel; the others were assigned to buy stuff for our dinner and the other half were assigned to cook. It was agreed that we’re gonna cook our dinner just to feel the celebration (YUNG TIPONG NAGHAHANDA which is a Filipino Culture). Well, it was crazy as I took advantage of the clean and pleasant kitchen of the hotel. I came up an idea of filming the cooking session of ROY (one of the Britney Armies). Honestly, it was actually my first time to meet these guys during the event (except William Pombo since he is my office-mate); and truly, cooking is really the best way for bonding and knowing them personally.

In fact, the planned-party became a cooking show and later on, turned into a comical vlog. Originally, I was just planning to create a formal cooking show just like Erwan Heussaff ‘s Youtube Channel but sadly, it became a hilarious content as everyone is punching a joke. The others were even disturbing us while filming.

The hotel's spacious rooms are very suitable for the whole family and friends. There friendly staffs for any additional requests especially if one intends to cook in its fully equipped kitchenette. . Suites with full dining and kitchen facilities are also made available for families and long-staying guests. “Wow sosyal ang kalan nila flat screen” as my friend jokingly said. This was the statement when my friend saw the Induction cooker.

Moreover, its convenient location accommodated my needs wherever possible, providing local information on shopping and dining. Three of the major shopping malls in the country are located within the hotels vicinity, i.e., SM Megamall, Robinsons Galleria, and Shangri-La Plaza. Hobby and recreational centers such as Wack Wack Golf and’ Country Club and City Golf are a few minutes away. For those who want to unwind and enjoy a night in town, entertainment and dining hubs like the Metrowalk and El Pueblo are just meters away. The hotel also presents guests with specialty shops and travel recommendations for a more convenient and satisfying stay.
 

There are bigger and comfortable room and a good value for money that you will exactly looking for that can accommodate a big family. Room is clean and orderly. I never saw a single cockroach or insect inside the room.

The fitness area is my top choice since I am a gym enthusiast. The gym is fully equipped of high tech cycling classes. There are wide arrays of cardio machine and extensive lines of weight equipment that will surely burn you fat and contour your body. Actually, the gym is open from 6AM until 10PM; indeed you need to wear appropriate gym attire.

Their indoor pool is one of my favorite amenities. I never had second thoughts to enjoy the pool because it’s indoor. They also have someone who would look after you and attend to your every need while you’re enjoying their lavish swimming pool. I also saw him get water samples from the pool, probably to test its cleanliness. Jacuzzi (to name a few) gives ultimate relaxation- where I spent longer due to the relaxing heat of the water which is perfect for me since I worked in a stressful environment.



However, you need to wear appropriate for swimming. In my case, I had my swimming trunk and I was ready to swim when the attendant stopped me because my trunk was made up of cotton. Honestly, I was embarrassed that time, since I was ready to swim and everyone were staring at me. So I have to go back to my room and buy another swimming trunk at St Francis Square – Specific cloth made up of polyester like board short or rush guard. I bought cycling for PHP50. So you have to bring that kind of swim wear.
 

Having been to so many hotels makes it a little difficult for me to find what unique quality to highlight in each. Well I especially appreciated the scent that resembles lavender essence. But what I don’t like about the hotel are the elevators – very congested when number of guests are simultaneously using because it is not that large enough especially at the building where I stay.
