Being a FurDaddy is one of the greatest joys of my life, but it also comes with heart-wrenching challenges — and today, I’m sharing one of the toughest experiences I've faced with my beloved American Bully, Escobar.

Escobar’s Skin Problem: Our Painful Journey

It all started when I noticed Escobar constantly scratching himself — to the point where his skin became red, irritated, and flaky. 😣 At first, I thought it was just regular itching, but it got worse over time. Seeing my furbaby suffer was absolutely heartbreaking.

We immediately sought help from a trusted veterinarian, and after several consultations, Escobar was diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis. This condition is sadly very common among American Bullies, French Bulldogs, Pitbulls, and other short-haired breeds. The vet explained that environmental allergens, food, and even grooming products could trigger it.

How We Managed Atopic Dermatitis

Managing Escobar’s condition wasn’t easy, but giving up was never an option. Here's what helped us:

• Veterinary Consultation: Always the first step! Never self-medicate your dog.
• Prescribed Medications: Anti-inflammatory medicines and medicated shampoos.
• Diet Adjustment: Avoiding possible food allergens.
• Controlled Environment: Limiting his exposure to dirt, dust, and allergens.
• Love and Patience: Lots of it. 💖

It took time, consistent treatment, and adjustments to our daily routine, but slowly, Escobar’s skin started improving.

A Personal Update: 4 Years Later

After four years of being a dedicated FurDaddy, I made an important discovery about Escobar’s allergies. 🚨

Initially, I tried natural remedies like Madre de Cacao soap and coconut oil, but surprisingly, these caused more irritation for him. 😔

Through a lot of trial and error, I found the perfect solution:

Watching My Bully Puppy Grow: One Tooth at a Time 🐶

If you’ve been following our journey, you already know that Escobar is more than just a pet—he’s my emotional support dog and daily dose of joy here in my little #MicroLivingPH setup. Life in a small city condo has its limitations, but raising an American Bully like Escobar in it? It’s been surprisingly beautiful.

This week, while he was sound asleep (snoring softly, of course 😅), I noticed something odd—one of his baby teeth was loose. And guess what? With a gentle tug, it came right off. He didn’t even wake up! I was shocked but also amazed. It was such a tender moment, and I couldn’t believe how calm he was.

Why Do Puppies Lose Their Teeth?

Just like human babies, puppies go through a teething phase. Around 3 to 6 months old, they start losing their baby teeth to make way for their permanent adult teeth. This phase can be a bit uncomfortable for them, which is why teething toys are a lifesaver (for both pup and furniture 😅).

For American Bullies—who have powerful jaws—this stage is crucial. Their adult teeth will help define their bite and chewing strength. Making sure they have safe, durable teething toys can prevent them from chewing random things and soothe their gums.
