Ortigas changes its personality at night—and that’s when I love photographing it most. With my Samsung S25 Ultra, I walked through glowing paths, towering buildings, and festive lights, letting the city reveal its quieter, more poetic side.

The holiday installations, star lanterns, and light tunnels felt almost dreamlike against the dark sky. Skyscrapers stood tall like silent witnesses, their windows glowing with stories of people still awake, still moving, still living. What amazed me most was how the camera captured sharp details and rich colors even in low light—no heavy gear, just instinct and timing.

Night photography in Ortigas isn’t just about bright lights or architecture. It’s about contrast—stillness and motion, silence and noise, shadow and glow. These photos are my way of slowing down, observing, and finding beauty in the city I pass through every day, seen differently once the sun goes down.

From Denpasar Airport, I was picked up and brought to Pandawa Beach Homestay, which is about a 45–60 minute drive. Pandawa is located more in the countryside, away from Bali’s busy city proper, making it a much quieter and more peaceful place. Since I arrived at the airport around 1 AM from NAIA, I decided to book the car pickup service offered by the homestay for my safety. It cost me around ₱3,000, on top of my accommodation fee. While there are more affordable options like motorcycle-hailing apps such as Gojek, or even the motorcycle queue outside the airport, I opted for the more convenient and safer car pickup service.

When I arrived at Pandawa Beach Homestay, the area was already dark and quiet—most of the stores were closed, and there was no food available nearby. Good thing I had the GrabFood app installed, and I was relieved to discover that it also works in Indonesia. That night, my food was delivered right to the homestay, and it was my first time trying authentic Indonesian Mi Goreng. After that satisfying meal, I went straight to bed, though I only managed to sleep for about four hours before waking up early at 7 AM.

The accommodation included a free breakfast as part of my overnight stay. In the morning, I headed to their common dining area where guests could order food. My breakfast set came with bread, eggs, fruits, and coffee. Since I’m used to the Philippines where food servings have become noticeably smaller due to inflation, I decided to order extra—Nasi Goreng and a glass of fresh juice—on top of the free meal. To my surprise, the serving sizes were huge and very affordable! The Nasi Goreng was so generous that I couldn’t even finish it all. This was such a big difference compared to the portions back home. I ended up packing the leftovers and storing them in the fridge, which worked out perfectly because checkout wasn’t until 12 noon. That meant I still had delicious food to eat before leaving the homestay.

After finishing my breakfast, I headed to the pool to relax by the side, wander around, and soak in the serene atmosphere of Pandawa Beach Homestay. The place reminded me of the provinces in the Philippines, but with a unique tropical vibe that made the experience even more refreshing

They also offer motorbike rentals, giving you the freedom to explore Bali at your own pace. Just keep in mind that the rental fee covers only the bike, while fuel and other expenses will be on your account.

One of the staff from the accommodation suggested that I should at least make a quick visit to Pandawa Beach. She was kind enough to offer me a ride on a motorbike, since the beach is just a few minutes away from where I stayed

By the way, the word pintu in Bali is the same as pinto in Filipino—both mean ‘door.’ A fun little language connection I discovered during my stay!

Interestingly, the word buka in Bali also means ‘to open,’ which is the same in Filipino. It’s amazing how some words connect our languages despite the distance.

☕ The Hangover After the Party in White Beach, Puerto Galera | My Struggle & Survival Tips

After a wild night of partying under the stars in White Beach, Puerto Galera, I woke up to the not-so-glamorous side of beach life: a massive hangover. 😵‍💫 With a pounding headache and zero motivation, I dragged myself out of bed into a gloomy, rainy morning—yup, Signal No. 2 typhoon weather was in full swing.

At around 10:23 AM, I stumbled into Cathy’s Bar and Restaurant by the beachfront, hoping a good meal could rescue me. I ordered a strong cup of coffee, a hot bowl of Chicken Tinola, and two cups of rice (plus a banana for good measure) — all for ₱330. The beach was eerily quiet, the waves louder than ever, and the atmosphere calm despite the storm. 🌧️

Back in my room, I tried to sleep off the misery… but by 11:30 AM, I gave up. So I slipped on my sandals and wandered along the shoreline. The beach, usually buzzing with tourists, was almost empty—just a few brave souls strolling like me. With no sun and light rain falling, the scene was oddly peaceful. My hangover might have lingered, but that walk? Totally therapeutic. 🌊

If you ever find yourself nursing a hangover in paradise, remember: warm soup, strong coffee, and a quiet walk by the sea can do wonders—even in a storm.

In today’s vlog, I took a deep dive into one of the most talked-about tourism campaigns in recent years — the SIGHTS TVC 60s, launched by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Philippines back in 2017. 🇵🇭✨ This video ad, which was meant to highlight the beauty and inclusivity of the Philippines, unfortunately sparked controversy almost immediately after its release on June 12, 2017. Many netizens pointed out its uncanny resemblance to a 2014 tourism ad from South Africa, raising an important question: Was this plagiarism or a creative adaptation?

My Personal Take 🎬

As a content creator and proud Filipino, I watched both ads side-by-side and carefully analyzed the visual elements, storyline, music, and overall concept. There were undeniably similar moments — especially in how the twist of the blind traveler was revealed. Both ads used the same narrative style and emotional hook.

Now, McCann Erickson, the advertising agency behind the DOT’s version, denied any form of copying. But watching the two ads closely, it’s hard not to question where the line is drawn between inspiration and imitation. 🤔

Why It Matters ✍️

In a world where digital content is shared globally in seconds, originality matters more than ever — especially for something as important as promoting the Philippines to the world. A tourism campaign is not just a commercial; it’s a reflection of national identity and creative pride. That's why it's crucial to uphold ethics in advertising and respect for creative ownership.

My Conclusion ✅

After reviewing the material, I believe there could have been more effort to develop a fresh, distinct take that truly captured our unique culture and destinations. Whether or not it was deliberate copying, the ad may have unintentionally overshadowed the genuine beauty it aimed to promote. It’s a reminder for us all — creatives, marketers, and officials — to aim for authenticity in everything we share with the world.

Standing proudly at 351 feet above sea level, this historic structure is one of the tallest lighthouses in the Philippines, second only to Cape Bojeador in Ilocos Norte. Can you imagine how many lives this beacon has protected over the decades?

Climbing its 134 steps was no joke — but the panoramic coastal view from the top made every step worth it. For those who aren’t familiar, the Bahag is a traditional loincloth worn by the Igorot people. It’s an important part of their cultural identity and heritage, symbolizing strength, bravery, and pride. Wearing the Bahag allowed us to step into the shoes of the indigenous people of the region, giving us a deeper understanding of their rich history and customs.

We had such an amazing time taking photos in full Igorot attire, feeling the weight of the culture and learning more about its significance. The locals at Mines View Park were incredibly welcoming and shared so much knowledge with us about the Igorot way of life. It was a fun and respectful way to embrace Baguio’s deep cultural roots while enjoying the beauty of the place.

The best part? We even got to experience riding a horse while wearing the Bahag, which made for some epic photos! The whole experience was a great reminder of how important it is to appreciate and respect the diverse cultures of the Philippines.

During my recent visit, I found myself walking across this massive outdoor map, which beautifully showcases the country’s diverse landscapes. From towering mountains to winding coastlines, every detail is meticulously represented. It felt like taking a mini road trip through the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions without ever leaving Manila!

What’s fascinating about this relief map is how it highlights the variations in elevation. Using detailed shading, contour lines, and vibrant color schemes, the map depicts the country’s mountain ranges, valleys, and bodies of water with impressive accuracy. It’s both educational and exciting — perfect for kids, students, and curious travelers like me.

I couldn’t help but marvel at how much effort went into crafting this detailed masterpiece. Standing by the miniature Mayon Volcano, I felt a renewed appreciation for the Philippines' natural beauty.

Luckily, I always carry my trusty nebulizer, which I quickly plugged into the hotel socket to regain my breath. It was a frightening moment, but after resting and taking precautions, I was ready to explore again!

In the morning, I woke up to the soothing sound of waves 🌊 and had a peaceful breakfast by the shore 🍳☕—the perfect way to wrap up this unforgettable Puerto Galera trip!

This weekend was nothing short of amazing! 🌴🍖 Our team headed to the scenic Cattleya Resort in Antipolo City for a fun-filled team-building experience that brought us closer together. Nestled in the hills of Antipolo, just a short 30-minute drive from Metro Manila but will take  3 hours due to congested traffic in  Ortigas Extension, the resort offered the perfect escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.

The highlight of the day? A classic Filipino-style boodle fight! We dined together with no utensils, sharing not just food but laughter and stories. The resort’s lush surroundings and serene vibe provided the ideal backdrop for our bonding activities. Whether it was diving into the pool, playing team games, or simply relaxing in nature, every moment was memorable.

Cinematic Video Shooting Challenge: Panglao Island, Bohol

 In this exciting vlog, I embarked on a "Cinematic Video Shooting Challenge" set against the breathtaking backdrop of Panglao Island, Bohol. I teamed up with two talented Boholano creators, each armed with different video equipment, to see who could create the most cinematic, film-like video output.

The challengers? Ransel Dahab showcased his skills using a Canon EOS 700D (Rebel T5i), while Alexis Neil took on the challenge with a Samsung Galaxy A5 2016. As for me, I opted for the trusty Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Each of us brought unique techniques and perspectives to the table, proving that cinematic creativity isn’t bound by gear. From setting up perfect shots to exploring editing magic, this friendly competition highlighted the power of storytelling through video.

Facing Fears and Finding Serenity: Sagbayan Peak and Goodbye, Bohol

After an adrenaline-packed experience at EAT Danao Adventure Park, where I took on the heart-stopping challenge of The Plunge, I thought I had reached my limit. The extreme freefall left me physically drained and mentally shaken, making it hard to focus on vlogging. Yet, there was one more destination on our Bohol itinerary that promised serenity and stunning views—Sagbayan Peak.

As we arrived at Sagbayan Peak, the tranquil atmosphere was a welcome contrast to the intensity of the day. Perched on a ridge, Sagbayan Peak offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills, which resemble the iconic Chocolate Hills that Bohol is famous for. Walking through the park, I felt a sense of calm return as I admired the lush landscape and the charming attractions. The observation decks provided breathtaking vistas, while the butterfly dome and whimsical displays added a touch of playfulness to the experience.

Simala Church: A Journey of Faith and Awe with My Friend William Pombo

Nestled in the serene hills of Sibonga, Cebu, the Simala Shrine, also known as the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist, stands as a symbol of faith and divine intervention. This grand church, often referred to as the "Castle Church," is renowned for its architectural magnificence, sacred atmosphere, and miraculous stories. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit this revered site with my dear friend, William Pombo, and the experience was nothing short of spiritually uplifting.

The Journey to Simala

The drive to Simala was as delightful as the destination itself. William and I set out early in the morning to make the most of our day. As we approached Sibonga, the scenic views of rolling hills and lush greenery provided a tranquil prelude to the sacred sanctuary awaiting us. Upon arriving, the sight of the towering church instantly captivated us, its castle-like facade gleaming under the Cebuano sun.

Awe-Inspiring Architecture and Sacred Atmosphere

Walking into the shrine felt like stepping into a divine realm. The intricate designs, majestic spires, and the vibrant colors of the structure left us in awe. Inside, the solemn atmosphere was palpable, with devotees offering prayers and lighting candles. One of the highlights was the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is believed to have performed miracles, drawing pilgrims from all over the country.

William and I spent time exploring the church’s various sections, from the prayer rooms to the candle-lighting area, each spot exuding a sense of peace and reverence. We also took a moment to write our personal petitions, joining the countless others displayed in the shrine. It was humbling to witness the sheer devotion of people, a reminder of the power of faith in uniting individuals from all walks of life.
