We kicked off our night at SM Mall of Asia, hunting for a quick bite before our Malate adventure. The sea breeze from the MOA Seaside set the mood perfectly. But the real feast was waiting for us in Malate!

A few minutes' drive from MOA, we arrived at In The Zone Café & Ramen, a must-visit for ramen lovers and Britney Spears fans! 💃🎶

The place was an absolute vibe. From the moment we stepped in, we were surrounded by Britney Spears memorabilia—posters, records, and even themed decorations. If you’re a Britney stan, this is heaven on earth. But let’s talk about the real star of the night—the food!

🔥 What we ordered:
  • ✅ Signature Tonkotsu Ramen – Creamy broth, tender chashu, and that perfect umami kick!

Next Stop: Chelu Bar – Where the Party Never Stops! 🌈🍹

Of course, our night wouldn’t be complete without experiencing Manila’s vibrant LGBTQ+ nightlife. Chelu Bar, one of Malate’s most famous queer bars, was the perfect next stop!

🌟 What makes Chelu Bar special?

  • ✔ Inclusive & Fun Crowd – The energy was unmatched. Everyone was there to celebrate life, love, and self-expression!
  • ✔ Affordable Drinks – Budget-friendly cocktails and beers? Yes, please!

🍸 What we drank:

🍹 Margaritas & Mojitos – Classic, refreshing, and perfect for a wild night.
🍾 Shots – Because, why not? A party at Chelu isn’t complete without a round of shots!

In the vibrant neighborhood of Xavierville Avenue, Quezon City, there once stood a lively food park known as The Yard Xavierville. This place wasn't just a food hub; it was a melting pot of flavors, creativity, and camaraderie. Located at 83 Xavierville Ave, Quezon City, The Yard was a haven for foodies seeking diverse and affordable gastronomical delights. Although it officially closed its doors in December 2024, it left behind unforgettable memories for those who had the chance to experience its magic.

A Culinary Wonderland

The Yard was no ordinary food park. It was a bustling venue filled with colorful stalls offering a wide range of cuisines—from Korean barbecue to Filipino street food, gourmet burgers, Japanese sushi, and even quirky dessert options like nitrogen ice cream. Each stall had its unique aesthetic, drawing you in with vibrant lights, creative signage, and mouthwatering aromas.

The food wasn’t just about taste—it was an experience. Whether it was a sizzling plate of Samgyupsal, a towering burger stack, or a meticulously crafted sushi roll, The Yard had something to cater to every craving.

Our Experience at The Yard

We visited The Yard Xavierville as a barkada (group of friends), and the experience was nothing short of epic. Alongside my close friends, Jaymie Lee and Mikki Labastida, we set out to indulge in the diverse offerings of this iconic food park.

The energy of The Yard was palpable. The mix of live music, the laughter of patrons, and the lively chatter from the stalls created an electric atmosphere. As we walked around, it was hard to decide where to start. Eventually, we opted for a little bit of everything:

  • Korean BBQ: We couldn’t resist the aroma of sizzling Samgyupsal. The perfectly marinated meat paired with kimchi and unlimited sides was heavenly.
  • Street Tacos: A blend of smoky, spicy, and tangy flavors exploded in our mouths with every bite.
  • Milkshakes and Desserts: For dessert, we tried some towering milkshakes topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and cookies. It was indulgence at its finest.

We spent hours sharing stories, laughing, and savoring every bite. The Yard wasn’t just a place to eat—it was a venue to create memories.

Getting There

For those unfamiliar with the area, getting to The Yard Xavierville was fairly straightforward:

  • From Cubao, you could head to Gateway Mall, then take the LRT-2 to Katipunan Station or hop on a jeep along Aurora Boulevard heading to Cogeo, SSS, Parang, or Calumpang.
  • If coming from Katipunan Station or the Katipunan Flyover, you could either walk to Xavierville or take a quick tricycle ride from Esteban Abada.

Though it required a bit of effort, the journey was always worth it.

A Sad Farewell

It’s bittersweet to know that The Yard Xavierville has now closed. It was one of those rare places that brought together food, culture, and community. While its doors are no longer open, the memories it created for countless patrons will remain cherished.

If you’ve been to The Yard, you’ll understand the unique charm it held. It wasn’t just a food park—it was a place where friends bonded over shared meals, strangers became friends, and foodies discovered their next favorite dish.

Final Thoughts

Even though The Yard Xavierville has shut down, it serves as a reminder to cherish the experiences we share over food. For those who visited, it will always hold a special place in our hearts. And for those who missed it, we hope this blog paints a vivid picture of what was once an iconic food destination.

Here’s to The Yard Xavierville—a gastronomical adventure that we’ll always remember.

🛡️ Safety First: Celebrating Responsibly

Given the current situation, I decided to keep it low-key this year. Wearing our face masks and practicing safety protocols, my friend and neighbor joined me for a small but special treat.

🚗 The Plan: A Drive to Romantic Baboy

After months of staying home, I thought, “Why not treat ourselves to something comforting and indulgent?” So, we hopped in the car and drove to Romantic Baboy for some unlimited Samgyupsal. 🥓

The drive itself was refreshing—just a change of scenery felt like a mini getaway! The streets were quiet, and the weather was perfect, setting the mood for a relaxing day.

🍖 Unlimited Samgyupsal: Food for the Soul

Once we arrived at Romantic Baboy, we were impressed with their strict implementation of health protocols. Tables were spaced out, staff wore proper PPE, and everything was sanitized thoroughly.

Now, let’s talk about the food! From perfectly marinated meats to side dishes that hit the spot, every bite was a celebration. 🎉 Of course, we couldn’t skip the kimchi and cheese fondue—it’s a must for any Samgyupsal experience!

🥂 Cheers to Another Year

As we grilled and enjoyed our meal, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much has changed in the past year. Life during the pandemic has taught me to appreciate the little things and cherish the people around me.

We ended the meal with a toast to good health, happiness, and brighter days ahead. 🥂

🎁 A Heartfelt Thank You

To everyone who sent me birthday greetings, messages, and virtual hugs—you made my day extra special. Your love and support mean the world to me! 💖

At 8 AM sharp, we gathered in the cozy and inviting ambiance of the restaurant, excited to share laughs, exchange gifts, and enjoy a delicious holiday spread. The warmth of the restaurant’s interior perfectly complemented the festive spirit, making it an ideal venue for a small yet meaningful celebration.

One of the highlights of the morning was the exchange gift activity with a twist. Instead of the usual pick-a-name format, we incorporated a fun game where participants had to complete challenges to earn their gift. This added a layer of excitement and joy, filling the air with laughter. The camaraderie among us, amplified by the holiday spirit, turned what could have been a regular breakfast into an unforgettable event.

Golden Sunshine Corned Beef and Potatoes

The food at Banapple did not disappoint, living up to its reputation for serving hearty and flavorful dishes. My friends ordered a variety of menu items, including the Hickory Smoked Barbequed Country Ribs, which were tender and bursting with smoky flavors, and the Bacon Fried Chicken Steaks with Milk’shroom Gravy, a crowd favorite with its crispy chicken and creamy gravy topped with bacon bits. For dessert, the Banoffee Pie stood out with its sweet banana and toffee filling, buttery crust, and whipped cream topping.

I personally tried the Golden Sunshine Corned Beef and Potatoes, and it was a delightful dish that hit all the right notes. The corned beef was shredded to perfection, paired with diced potatoes and caramelized onions, and served with seasoned rice and sunny-side-up eggs. The flavors were well-balanced and comforting—perfect for a festive breakfast. Price-wise, Banapple offers good value for money, with dishes ranging from ₱200 to ₱400, which is reasonable considering the generous portions and quality of food.

A Chance Encounter

After indulging in a relaxing massage at Green Scent Spa on Domingo Guevara (formerly Libertad Street), I was on my way home when I stumbled upon Pabs Table. The aroma of freshly baked pizza was too tempting to resist! Drawn in by its cozy charm and welcoming vibe, I decided to check it out.

First Impressions

The Star of the Show: 8-Inch Pepperoni Pizza

I ordered their 8-inch pepperoni pizza, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite!

  • The Dough: Soft and spongy, reminiscent of a New York-style pizza crust. It had the same pillowy texture you’d find in an S&R pizza, yet it was distinct in its flavor and freshness.
  • The Pepperoni: Generously layered, each slice was rich and flavorful, adding a delightful spice that balanced perfectly with the gooey mozzarella.
  • The Brick Oven Touch: Cooking the pizza in a traditional brick oven gave it a slight smokiness and crispy edges, elevating the overall experience.

The 8-inch size might be enough for two, but I enjoyed it all by myself—it was simply that good!

More to Explore

Pabs Table’s menu extends beyond pizza, offering a variety of Italian and American dishes. Whether you’re in the mood for pasta, pastries, or other comfort foods, this place has something to satisfy your cravings.

After our exhausting night shift, my friend Joy and I decided to treat ourselves to a hearty breakfast at Dell's Cafeteria, located at 3 World Square, Upper McKinley Road, McKinley Hill, Taguig City. Known for its affordable and diverse food options, Dell's has become a favorite among local employees and visitors. The cafeteria's casual and inviting atmosphere provided a much-needed respite as we anticipated a satisfying meal.

Dell's menu caters to a wide range of tastes, and we were eager to sample its offerings. Joy opted for the classic Filipino breakfast, Tapsilog, which consists of marinated beef, rice, and a sunny-side-up egg. The beef was tender and flavorful, more of sweet side, complemented perfectly by the garlic-infused regular rice (not fried) and the richness of the egg. Meanwhile, I chose the Chicken Mole, a dish that surprised me with its bold, savory-sweet sauce and perfectly cooked chicken. The portions were generous, providing excellent value for money.

To top off our meal, I treated Joy to some Coffee Jelly for dessert and fruit beers to quench our thirst. The Coffee Jelly was a delightful blend of rich coffee flavor and creamy sweetness, a perfect end to our breakfast. The fruit beers were refreshing, offering a light and fruity twist that balanced out our savory dishes. While we were enjoying the conversation, we gradually felt the 3 percent of alcohol and we started to loosen up.  Dell's efficient service ensured that our food arrived promptly, allowing us to enjoy our meal without any delays.

Cecelia's Buko Pie.

Buying at Cecelia's Buko Pie in Tagaytay was a delightful experience that truly captured the essence of Tagaytay's culinary charm. From the moment I stepped into the quaint shop, the aroma of freshly baked pies filled the air, creating an irresistible allure. The friendly staff welcomed me warmly and guided me through their selection of mouthwatering buko pies, each one baked to golden perfection with a flaky crust and generous filling. The highlight was tasting their signature buko pie, a heavenly combination of tender young coconut meat and creamy custard, perfectly sweetened and satisfying in every bite. Big statues with an Asian Theme bring the whole experience, seemingly, you're in Thailand.

If you've been to Thailand; this place in Calauan, Laguna might make you feel you have been there. It's a Thailand-inspired restaurant where your meals are served on the floating huts or "Kubo". It features bamboo cottages that are built on a pond, thus giving the illusion of floating native huts. It is also like a theme park due to its attractions of different huge statues from famous characters like President Obama, Disney characters, angry birds, lots of crocodiles, and even King Kong. In addition, you can even have a boat ride FOR FREE to go through the round-boating via a narrow canal within the area.

Just be sure to be there not on holidays or Sundays because the place could get overcrowded by so many international and local tourists. The said restaurant is situated along National Hwy, Bay, Laguna.

Unfortunately, when we arrived at the area, it was peak hours on weekend. It was extremely busy. no one actually entertains us to check for available tables. So we decided to roam around and take pictures and left afterward heading to Rambulls Bakahan sa Tanay Restaurant

I cannot give any feedback on the foods because our goal of grabbing our meals turned into a quick ocular tour and picture-taking. Hopefully, I can go back there to fully experience this place.

Meanwhile, the establishment offers a stress-releasing activity named Taksyapo.

“Taksyapo” is an old Kapampangan word for “Bwisit!” At Isdaan Floating Restaurant, Calauan, Tarlac. It is being given a whole new meaning. You can distress yourself by shouting “Taksyapo” at the top of your lungs simultaneously throwing a plate or a mug - starting on the lowest price of P25.00, to a wall. You can even buy a TV and throw it.
