Lenten Special : Visita Iglesia at Simala Church

In commemoration of Lenten Season, I’ll be featuring this miraculous Simala Parish Church. This Church is situated in Barangay Simala, Natalio B. Bacalso S National Hwy, Sibonga, Cebu.

I had a chance to visit this amazing church two years ago – it was summer. When I first saw Simala, I was fascinated because of the design. It looks like a castle or I might say “a theme park”. Indeed, some are visiting just to see the architectural design and most of them are tourist and foreigners. 

Inside, the detailed design is very mesmerizing.

The people purposely visit this church to ask for miracles. In fact, you will see inside those evidences of granted prayers – wigs from cancer survivors, pens from board passers, wheel chairs from those who were able to walk and etc.

How to Get There? (ChoosePhillipines)

From Manila, you can fly to Cebu (estimated cost of Php3, 000++, round trip, 45 minutes).

From the Mactan International Airport, hire a cab and ask to be dropped at the South Bus Terminal where you can ride a bus going to Sibonga; you can also hire a van from City Link terminal where it will take you all the way to the shrine. The bus ride from Cebu City to Sibonga takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes. By the time you reach the stop point, take a motorcycle ride to bring you to the Simala Shrine.

This Lenten Season, plan your vacation and don’t forget to include this church – a place where you can connect our Mighty God. Make your travel and vacation fun and holy.

Review: Guapple Pie in El Ideal

El Ideal has been serving good food since 1920's and is included in one of the thirty heritage houses declared by the national historical institute. Famished after walking around to see the heritage houses of Silay and the famous Balay Negrense, we decided to try this local eatery. The interior is basic nothing fancy but the food is delicious and reasonably priced. One must try their tasty batchoy- a type of noodle soup, bicho-bicho, a local delicacy made of sticky rice flour, smothered with melted brown sugar and sesame seed (oh so yummy!) and their piping hot piayaya- a flat pastry filled with muscovado jam and sprinkled with sesame seed. They also have racks of varied pastries and cookies for last minute souvenirs.



Their best seller is the famous guapple pie, but I wasn't able to try it.  Guapple Pie is truly new to my knowledge, I was curious about.


Taste: 8/10 – It is sweet and the aroma of the Guava is still there. (Medyo nakakaumay nga lang pag nasobrahan)

Appearance: 7/10  It looks appetizing because of the breading. However, when you eat it using fork, it crushes easily into pieces.


Location: The place is just 20 minutes away going to Bacolod-Silay International Airport, so if you want a quick snack before catching your flight, this is the place to eat.

The Ruins in Negros Occidental - Mind Blowing Experience.

I got a chance to visit “THE RUINS” Talisay City, Negros Occidental. It was year 2015 , summer when my friends visited this place.


The Ruins is an old Mariano Ledesma Lacson Mansion, located in the city is a known tourist attraction. Talisay, officially the City of Talisay and often referred to as Talisay City, is a fourth class city in the province of Negros Occidental, Philippines




I loved that every angle looks beautiful in the photos. Whether you want to drop by this place or not you'll be able to pass by the location when you go to Bacolod City proper. There's an entrance fee when you visit the place.



Other than taking pictures, there is nothing much to do here. It suites more as a venue for weddings or other similar celebrations rather than a tourist attraction. Probably because the place no longer has that old-prehistoric vibe it boasts due to numerous restorations.



Over all , I love the experience.

📺 Review : ABS-CBN TV Plus - Ang Mahiwagang Black Box

I am using a cable connection for my television for a long span of time now because it includes local and international channels. However, I was not able to utilize it due to my busy schedule and I just realized that I paid my monthly bill w/o using it at all. Infact, during my weekends I only watch local channels like ABS-CBN and GMA7.



When a digital box was released to the market, I was thinking to grab one. ABS-CBN Company announces this “Mahiwagang Black Box” to the televiewers on what they can get of having this box in their households.  ABS-CBN TV Plus (formerly SKY TV+ or simply TV+ and stylized as ABS-CBN TVplus), is a digital terrestrial television product and service owned and operated by ABS-CBN Corporation.

I just recently bought it amounting to PHP1999. This product’s original price was PHP2500 during the release.

Mahiwagang Black box – It is light and small box.

ABS-CBN Mobile Sim Card- you need this to activate some of the channels owned by ABS-CBN as well as activation of the warranty.

User’s Manual- Your best friend on basic trouble shooting

Audio and Video cable – this will connect between your TV and the box.  Disadvantage: there is no HDMI port.

The adapter – it is requisite to give power of the digital box.

Remote control – I love how it looks like – very elegant. And the good thing, it has a free battery.

Antenna and cable – the cable length is enough to bring the end of the antenna outside - to capture signal. But I would love if they provide longer cable so that I can extend the antenna towards the rooftop.

Meanwhile, an issue came out that ABS-CBN TV plus is a way of the ABS-CBN company to monopolize the televiewers because it only guarantees you of having the ABC-CBN channels. But that is not true, I personally experience the crystal clear output  from GMA7 and GMA News TV using the ABS-CBN TV plus.  So basically, it will still vary on your location.

ABS-CBN TV plus gave me a Crystal clear picture and sound with Affordable one-time fee compared with cable connection. It is beneficial to me because there is no need for me to pay a monthly bill – so it is a huge saving. And it works perfectly to me
