Raving Inside a Church: When Julie Anne San Jose Sang ‘Dancing Queen’ and God Answered My Prayer.

I recently made a satire short video that had me cracking up—and it’s causing quite the buzz! In the video, I walk into a church, praying earnestly for a sign, and when God finally answers, I go into full rave mode. But wait, here’s the kicker—I look up, and there’s Julie Anne San Jose on stage, belting out ‘Dancing Queen’ like it’s a full-blown concert inside the church. Yes, you read that right—a concert, in a sacred space, with me dancing like there’s no tomorrow! Sounds ridiculous? Absolutely, but stick with me; there’s more to this than just humor.

At first, my video was all about the absurdity of mixing pop music with a religious setting. Imagine going to mass expecting a solemn experience, only to witness a concert right after the choir finishes their last hymn. While my video was meant to be funny, it does raise a valid point—should secular events like concerts take place inside a church? I get it, we all love Julie Anne’s angelic voice, but even I have to admit that there's a line between entertainment and respecting the sanctity of a place of worship.

Personally, I think it’s hilarious when humor exposes the contradictions in life. Churches are known for their quiet reverence, so the idea of turning it into a party spot seems outlandish and surreal. But when you step back and think about it, it starts to feel wrong. Sure, music is uplifting, and I’m all for celebrating, but the sacred space of a church has a purpose beyond entertainment. Julie Anne may have been killing it with ‘Dancing Queen,’ but I can’t shake off the feeling that it’s disrespectful to turn a holy venue into a concert hall.

It’s not that I’m against concerts or fun—I’m definitely not! My rave dance in the video speaks for itself. But even in satire, there’s an underlying seriousness. The mixing of religious settings with secular events like pop concerts blurs the line of respect for traditions and faith. It's important to honor what a church stands for. A place of prayer should remain just that—a place to reflect, connect, and practice faith, without the distractions of secular performances.

In conclusion, I hope my funny video gets the laughs it was intended for, but also sparks some thought about where we draw the line. A church is not just another event space; it’s a house of worship, and we should be mindful of its purpose. Let’s keep concerts where they belong—at venues that don’t double as sacred spaces. But hey, if God answered my prayer with a concert featuring Julie Anne, I guess I wouldn’t complain too much!

Philippines! Do you know how to spell D-E-V-E-L-O-P-M-E-N-T?

It consists of 7107 islands, a home of true-blooded “Beauty Queens” and well-known singers – who can afford to ignore this Republic of the Philippines.  Philippine is a sovereign island country located in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. Approximately, 99,887,500 Filipinos are residing this country and identified as nation’s precious gems due to its resiliency despite of calamities such as typhoons and earthquakes – no wonder why innumerable Foreigners invest (e.g. Business Process Outsourcing).

Aside from the smiling people, Philippine is famous for its various world class tourist destination. Tourism Industry grew and gained 2,061,135 arrivals of foreign tourists just this January to May 2014 as the impact of Department of Tourism’s promotional campaign titled “It’s More Fun in The Philippines” – forecasted to give employment of 7.4 million people by 2016.

“Tourism is a major contributor to the nation’s economy, contributing 5.9% to the GDP in 2011” says National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) and the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Indeed, tourism has a huge social impact to the country. The growths of local businesses like loom weaving, sculpturing and locally made-products are now distributed worldwide that opened the door to all Filipinos into international trading. There are now a lot of beach resorts, restaurants, bars, malls and other recreational spots established around the country. Hotels and transportations (via air, land and sea) are available to all local and foreign tourists just to assure their convenience.

I’ve been to two of the best beaches in the country named Puerto Galera and Calaguas Island. Not surprisingly, when I compared the two spots, I witnessed the real meaning of Development – the environment.  Puerto Galera is a commercialized beach which gave the community’s stable medium of living. “I traveled here all the way from the opposite island during peak season just to sell our goods to the tourists” the vendor of shell bracelet said. However, environmentally, the effect isn’t quite good due to the unlimited visitors during summer and it shows in the surroundings.

Meanwhile, Calaguas Island is totally an immaculate beach which is perfect for soul-searching. It is a place for campers and backpackers who spend more sweat just to reach this paradise. The coast is very astounding – priceless. There is only small local community in the island which inhibits and protects the purity of the place. Their simple way of living is inspiring – they don’t even allow anybody to leave single garbage on the ground. “We can’t avoid the reality that sooner this Island can be developed also. It might give a stable livelihood to all the inhabitants here. And hopefully this development will not affect negatively to the environment.” The local said.

Truly, development in tourism in the Philippines provides positive outcome towards the society. But we also need to be more responsible on the maintenance of the environment. This is not just an accountability of the government but all of the stakeholders – including you. Because progress of tourism is worthless if this will leads to nature's distraction.

Oink! Oink! The Golden Pig Worshiping in the Philippines.(Pork Barrel Issue)

Pork Barrel also known as PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) is a fund allocated by the Government to the members of the House of Representative and The Philippine Senate. These funds are supposed to be used for their projects namely for road construction, for building schools, building hospitals, livelihood and many more. On August 2013, several Senators and Congressman and Janet Lim-Napoles have been involved in the Pork Barrel Scam. According to the news a total 10 Billion pesos were given to fake/bogus foundations associated to Napoles.

The pork barrel scam is a very controversial issue. Imagine the government collects taxes from us but are being used by these greedy people. This controversy let to a massive campaign to abolish the pork barrel. The Million People March is a protest organized to fight against corruption and to abolish the Pork Barrel fund. Organizers used Facebook and Twitter to inform the public about the event. The first protest was held at Luneta Park on August 26 2013 and the second protest was held at Ayala in Makati on October 3, 2013.

Protesters had a program which was attended by Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz, employees, students and concerned citizens. The event started 3 pm with the performance of different artists and there was also a performance by actress Monique Wilson. Once again Filipinos unite for one common goal, which is to stop corruption. Thousands of people from different walks of life gathered at Ayala in Makati on October 3, 2013 to call for the abolition of the pork barrel. They march on the streets to call the attention of the government to do something about the issue. Furthermore, they also want the people involved to be punished.

In the rally, an effigy of a giant “Golden Pig” was displayed in the streets. In the biblical point of view we can compare the “Golden Pig” effigy to the “Golden Calf” in the bible. Moses went to the mountain to get the 10 commandments from God written in stones after that he saw the people created an image made of gold. The “Golden Calf” was created by the people as an Idol (God) which they worship. On the other hand, the “Golden Pork” which is the symbol of the pork barrel is being worshipped by the corrupt government officials.

The message of the protest is clear; it is a moral obligation of the senators and congressmen to use the funds that were entrusted to them for infrastructure and livelihood projects that would benefit us all. We have to make sure that the funds will be given to the organizations that would help our fellow citizens who are in need. Our citizens need money to build more school buildings, hospitals, roads, we also need budget for medicine and livelihood programs as well. Finally, if only the government know how to allocate the funds from our taxes then our economy will grow and we can all benefit from that progress- and if that happens we can have harmonious relationship wherein the government supports the people and the people trust and supports the government.

Megan Young Miss World 2013 : They are poor, smelly from cleaning toilets and uneducated said Devina DeDiva

This girl above an Indian-Singaporean made racist remarks on the current title holder Miss Megan young Miss World 2013.  Her remarks like:  "Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them Ha Ha Ha," Facebook user Devina DeDiva said in a post that immediately earned over 400 shares on the social network.  And another, "They are poor, smelly from cleaning toilets and uneducated," DeDiva said. "Majority [of Filipinos] are maids and one won such a title! It's shocking and dumb!" she added.

I was shocked and furious about her statement.  She does not know that our fellow kababayans who are working overseas, just to provide basic needs for their loved one, is the most noble things they’ve done.  Imagine the great sacrifice they made like not seeing their love ones every day, and only once in a blue moon they will visit home and realize the lost time that they missed seeing their children had already grown up.  It is hard for every parent to miss those moments.  I do not know if she had parents issues.

Today, Typhoon “Yolanda” is top of the line topic worldwide due to the rumors that it was only an experimental phenomenon made by the US, CHINA, JAPAN, and RUSSIA.

Yolanda was the second of the “experimental typhoons” which came from the boundary of Russia and Japan prior to positioning in Guam and totally attacked within the Philippines, afterward went to Vietnam and it was totally gone

The said experiment was called by the experts a “Microwave pulse typhoon” because it was created using radars from the biggest countries. The temperature of the atmosphere was scientifically produced so that the route of the said the super typhoon is controllable and the countries who were the brains of the experiment can avoid it.

It was mentioned the said Typhoon Wilma was just an advance party of “Yolanda” and the next on the line is “Zoraida”. These three Typhoons named WILMA, YOLANDA AT ZORAIDA have one and only route so that the superpower can make sure the success of their experiment

The territories wherein these three Typhoons originated are the locations wherein the secret radars of JAPAN, RUSSIA, CHINA, and US are also situated
