Small Youtubers in the Philippines React on Additional Changes to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).

YouTube Partner Program, YPP qualification 2024, how to monetize on YouTube, new YouTube rules 2024, 1000 subscribers 4000 watch hours, small YouTuber tips, YouTube monetization requirements, becoming a YouTuber, YouTube monetization guide, how to grow a YouTube channel, small creator challenges, YouTube Partner Program changes, Jonathan Orbuda, I Love Tansyong TV, YouTube monetization threshold, small YouTuber struggles, YouTube Vloggers PH, tips for YouTube success, YouTube monetization tips, how to get more subscribers, YouTube content creation guide, online creator challenges, how to qualify for YouTube monetization.

On January 16, 2018, Youtube released a pronouncement that there will be a new qualification of becoming part of Youtube Partner Program (YPP).  The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) lets creators monetize their content on YouTube. Creators can earn money from advertisements served on their videos and from YouTube Red subscribers watching their content. On Youtube Creator Blog, it has been mentioned that for you to qualify the YPP, a channel must have at least 1000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in the past 12 months.

Originally, this “qualification approach” of Youtube was initially started in second quarter of 2017 wherein a channel must have 10,000 lifetime views to get monetized, but later on changed into this recent threshold.  Upon posting the said news, it earned a massive and shocking reaction especially to those thriving small channels.

In the Philippines, the most active group of content creators is Youtube Vloggers Ph wherein most of the members are small youtubers; and got affected negatively to this major change. Some took it as a challenge but some became de-motivated as they really worked hard to achieve the first qualification – 10k lifetime views, yet YT changed the threshold it right away.

Truly, becoming an online creator now is not easy anymore in comparison to the previous years passed by. I am fortunate that I signed up Youtube Partner Program earlier and I was able to monetize my videos without those thresholds. However, this qualification is applicable also to all existing partner – that when I didn’t reach the qualification, my partnership might forfeited. Aside from qualifications, the fast growth of number of small youtubers became a challenge to each individual as Youtube community turned into a jungle of creative people, spammers, bad actors and etcetera.

Watch this video as I am going to tackle this issue in my “10th POWER Series– Episode 4”.

I’ve been using Gay Social Dating sites for almost 15 years now as I started to use it when I was 17.Recently; Gay dating became easier as various apps became available right in your phone.  I must admit that part of growing; I was once an active user of such online dating feature.

I can still remember how I was willing to meet random guys that I’ve talked online. I allowed them to enter my life as I was under the impression that online dating is a way for me to find my better half. At first, it failed and I tried, and failed and tried again. The history kept repeating and unconsciously I was addicted to it.

Until ... at my age of 30, I’m becoming more mature and got a different way of seeing things. I decided to delete these apps in my phone wherein one time – it poisoned my youngness. For the span of 15 years of using -both gay dating sites and apps, meeting random guys and sleeping with them; I never ever got any benefits aside from the satisfaction of my carnal needs.  Indeed, It didn’t boost me as Jonathan Orbuda at all.

But I was still thankful because, involving myself to such apps made me experience on how to become more socially incline to diverse people that I’ve met. I was able to experience, masasabi kong hindi rin ako naging ignorante. But, I’m done with it.

Watch the video below as I’ll delete all my Gay Dating Apps in my phone. I will also tell you my top 10 reasons why I decided to stop this kind of activity.

To all young ones, please share this video because I made this – just for you. I’m happy that I was able to make this stage. And now masasabi, graduate na ako. Dating is a stage of romantic relationships in humans whereby two people meet socially with the aim of each assessing the other's suitability as a prospective partner in an intimate relationship. And by using Dating Apps is not advisable because it lessen the meaning of DATING.

THANK YOU GUYS.

🏳️‍🌈 Openly Gay Cop from New York Tries Filipino Delicacies,

Carlos is all the way from U.S. and he dropped-by in my place to visit me. I offered him some Filipino Delicacies and let him eat those. Carlos Crespo also known as Tony is one of the 69 police officers awarded a medal of valor. Indeed, he is the first openly-gay cop who received it due to his heroic act when he was still there.

According to New York Times , Officer Crespo was working at the 24th Precinct on the Upper West Side on Sept. 5, 1995, when a knife-wielding man lunged at another officer. As his colleague fought with the attacker, Officer Crespo tried to knock the knife away and was stabbed in the chest. He and another officer then shot the intruder dead, but a stray bullet hit Officer Crespo in the knee. Officer Crespo suffered a collapsed lung and was out of action for four months.

After 20 years of service, he retired and start travelling and creating video for his channel. And now, he is visiting Philippines. I am honoured to have him in my channel.

In this video, I let him try the popular Filipino Delicacies –eg, Chicaron, Yema, Piaya, Sampaloc, Tira-Tira, Banana Chips, Penoy and Balot. Chicharrón is a dish generally consisting of fried pork belly or fried pork rinds; chicharrón may also be made from chicken, mutton, or beef. While Yema is a type of Filipino candy named after the Spanish term for egg yolks – mixed of condense milk.

Watch the video below:

Piaya sometimes spelled piyaya, is a muscovado-filled unleavened flatbread from the Philippines especially common in Negros Occidental where it is a popular delicacy. It is made by filling dough with a mixture of muscovado and glucose syrup. The filled dough is then flattened with a rolling pin, sprinkled with sesame. Sampaloc is a sweetened tamarind. Tira-tira is made of old coconut cooked in brown sugar. And Banana Chips are chopped fried banana with glaze. Lastly, Penoy is an unfertilized duck egg without yolk formation when screened against a lighted candle or electric bulb also known as the candling process; while balut is the fertilized one.

One year of joy, laughter and fun. There were times that I was down but 2017 gave me the lesson - never give up on my dreams. Indeed, I must say while looking back to my 2017, I’ve changed on how I should see life.

When I was not in Youtube, I spent my time going to work and writing articles for my blog; and when I was introduced into Youtubing , I enjoyed it a lot. My creativity became more dynamic and I am excited going to work as I have something to look forward after I ended my shift – doing contents for my Youtube Channel when I arrived at home.

I had so many things to be grateful in my 2017. I have my challenging yet stable job that pays my bill, I was able to purchase my first ever camera, I was able to have my Samsung s8 Plus, and above all – I made it on Youtube while I am a full-time employee. Moreover, I am now living in my own condo unit, and I got sick only twice for the whole year. I met a lot of random people as I became more socially incline because of the numerous events that I attended.

I was able to attend my Alumni Home Coming in Province of Bohol, and joined Fiesta Celebration. I won in a Dance Battle.  I became a Pedicab Driver for a day. I got my first brand deal in 2017 (Shopback)  and followed by more opportunities after (booking.com, Urban Deca Homes). It was truly a challenging year yet a fruitful one in a positive note. I became conscious on time management since I am a full-time employee and a part-time youtuber and blogger. Undeniably, 2017 taught me a lot of things.

👨‍🍳 A Formal Cooking Show Turns Into a Comedy Vlog.

Advertisement by Google:
After we finished distributing the goods to the street children along Roxas Boulevard in Malate, Manila; we – the Pinoys Heart Britney together with yours truly- headed towards Ortigas , Pasig City as William Pombo booked an overnight  room for us at Oakwood Premier Joy- Nostalg Hotel.  The said overnight stay-cation is a celebration for the success of “Why Don’t You Do Somethin’?- Charity event.

We arrived at 10PM in the hotel; the others were assigned to buy stuff for our dinner and the other half were assigned to cook. It was agreed that we’re gonna cook our dinner just to feel the celebration (YUNG TIPONG NAGHAHANDA which is a Filipino Culture). Well, it was crazy as I took advantage of the clean and pleasant kitchen of the hotel. I came up an idea of filming the cooking session of ROY (one of the Britney Armies). Honestly, it was actually my first time to meet these guys during the event (except William Pombo since he is my office-mate); and truly, cooking is really the best way for bonding and knowing them personally.

In fact, the planned-party became a cooking show and later on, turned into a comical vlog. Originally, I was just planning to create a formal cooking show just like Erwan Heussaff ‘s Youtube Channel but sadly, it became a hilarious content as everyone is punching a joke. The others were even disturbing us while filming.

🎬WATCH THE VIDEO HERE-

Undeniably, I should say that I love the companion of these guys. We’re all diverse and has different upbringing but the overnight stay-cation with them runs harmoniously – full of laughter and joy. Thank you guys for the experience and merry Christmas.

Why Don’t You Do Something? A Heartwarming Charity Event Inspired by Britney Spears

Not everyone knows that global pop icon Britney Spears is more than just a performer; she is also a dedicated philanthropist. Throughout her career, Britney has supported countless charitable causes, including helping children battling cancer. Inspired by her generosity, Pinoys Heart Britney, a Philippine-based fan community, has made it their mission to emulate her philanthropic spirit. On December 17, 2017, I was honored to join and document one of their meaningful endeavors—a charity event aptly named “Why Don’t You Do Something?”

The event, held during the Christmas season, focused on spreading love and kindness to the street children of Roxas Boulevard in Malate, Manila. Volunteers gathered donations in the form of used clothes, books, second-hand toys, and food to distribute to the less fortunate. For the first time, the event, which had previously been exclusive to Cebu, extended its reach to Luzon, bringing together fans and volunteers united by a common goal: to make a difference.

A Community Effort Inspired by a Shared Idol

Organizing the charity program was no small feat. According to William Pombo, an active member of Pinoys Heart Britney, the group worked tirelessly to gather donations from its members. Some contributed financially, others offered their time and effort, while still others donated items to be distributed. The collaboration reflected the inclusive and giving nature of the fanbase, mirroring Britney Spears’ own compassion.

“This is actually our fifth year, but our first four years were only held in Cebu City. Indeed, it is our first year to execute such a charitable program here in Luzon,” Pombo shared with pride.

Challenges on Roxas Boulevard

The volunteers walked along Roxas Boulevard, specifically the Baywalk and Pedro Gil Street areas, handing out goods to the children. However, the reality of the streets presented unforeseen challenges. Some street peddlers, under the influence of solvents, harassed the group, forcibly snatching some of the items meant for the children. Despite these setbacks, the volunteers persevered, focusing on their mission to bring joy to those in need.

“We can no longer control the scenario nor change it; this is really the situation of Roxas Blvd. We already did our part. However, the important thing is the spirit and thought of giving this Christmas that somehow touches their lives, and I’m pretty sure they’ll also pay it forward to other people,” Pombo expressed emotionally.

A Legacy of Giving

Despite the challenges faced during the Manila leg of the event, the Pinoys Heart Britney Cebu Chapter simultaneously held its own version of the program, successfully distributing goods to those in need. The simultaneous execution of the event across different regions underscored the community's commitment to making a broader impact.

A Call to Action

This event is a powerful reminder that giving, no matter how small, can create a ripple effect of kindness and hope. Inspired by Britney Spears’ philanthropic endeavors, the Pinoys Heart Britney community exemplifies how fandom can transcend entertainment and become a force for good.

As we reflect on the meaning of the Christmas season, let us take a page from their book. Why don’t we do something? Whether through small acts of kindness or grand gestures of generosity, we all have the power to make the world a better place, one selfless act at a time.

On December 10, 2017, I had the privilege of joining the year-end/Christmas party of YouTube Vloggers Philippines (#YTVPH), a vibrant community of passionate Pinoy content creators. Held at The Exchange Regency Hotel, Meralco Avenue, Ortigas, Pasig City, the event brought together aspiring YouTubers from different walks of life, creating an atmosphere filled with energy, creativity, and camaraderie.

The party, which ran from 11 AM to 3 PM, required a small entrance fee: PHP 400 for professionals and working creators, and PHP 250 for students. Despite being categorized as "small-time YouTubers" with zero to a few thousand subscribers, the participants exuded immense passion for their craft, evident in their dedication to producing and sharing amazing content online.

Gab Jornacion, one of the event organizers, encapsulated the spirit of the gathering when he said, “The good thing with small-time YouTubers with zero to thousands of subscribers is that we help each other grow. I can see how they started and how they became confident in their craft.”

The four-hour event was packed with exciting activities. Attendees enjoyed a variety of performances from talented YouTubers, including violinists, guitarists, and singers. Generous sponsors provided raffle prizes and giveaways, adding thrill to the celebration. To my delight, I won a 3D-2N free travel package to Ilocos—what an unexpected treat! The event also featured an array of delicious food and drinks, which we indulged in from the very start of the party.

The highlight of the celebration for me was meeting and mingling with fellow content creators. It was fascinating to witness everyone confidently engaging with their cameras, sharing stories, and exchanging tips. The sense of belongingness was undeniable—this group of “crazy” yet incredibly talented individuals truly felt like home.

Joining the #YTVPH Christmas Party reminded me of why I ventured into content creation: the community, the shared passion, and the joy of storytelling. If you're a budding content creator or simply someone looking for a supportive group to fuel your creative pursuits, I highly encourage you to find your tribe. This event wasn’t just a party—it was a celebration of dreams, collaboration, and endless possibilities.

Here’s to more creative adventures in the coming year! 🎉
